Hey everyone,
I consider myself IT literate - I work in computers! BUT, I have no interest in gaming. I can't think of anything more mind numbing! Anyway, 11 year old has requested a Wii for christmas.

So, before I spend my hard earned pennies, and knowing that the basic console is probably not all we need, could some kind soul please enlightne me as to what I actually need to budget for to get her and 1 friend started?

From my initial research we would need a console , which I believe comes with a remote shaped gadgie. Will I need to buy another remote shaped gadgie? And what on earth is a nunchuk, and will I have to buy two of these? What else will I need so she has the complete setup for xmas day?

Thanks very much in advance

you would need the following,
Wii Console if you want to go down the nintendo route,
A Wiimote that's the remote shaped gadgie,
A Nunchuck which is used on some games for movement, where the Wiimote is so the character can look around.

You will only need to double up on any of these if you which to have more than one player at the time. Then you would need a TV and a Game to enjoy, but maybe Wii lovers on here can help out more

One some of the games you may require 2 Wiimotes as they nessesitate having one in each hand but this is rare. You deen the Nunchuck for basic boxing etc. The Wii Balance board is a must for many of the games and fitness stuff. Also great fun....

Can change your life for the good and your house decorating for the worse. Start saving for some new light fittings....

Enjoy and take the plunge....

When I bought my Wii earlier this year it came with one remote and one nunchuck - so you should only need to buy one nunchuck to do the two player games, I bought Wii Play too as I like the game and it comes with a remote. I found this better than just buying another remote - though apparently you can buy cheaper "fake" Wii remotes from Argos now. I agree with Shoes though - Band Hero was the second Wii related thing I bought and i'm on it more than the kids are.....

Hope this helps!

From experience of the Wii you will need 2 new arms because you're will soon snap off and a few crates of deodorant because you will sweat a lot. Or maybe that's just me lol
