Wills.

I need a will, it's something we've never got around to sorting but really need to.

Nothing fancy, he gets it all if I go first, I get it all if its him first - which would be standard anyway but its more what happens if we both check out early that we want to be officially written up.

Any local recommendations welcomed, ideally someone who can come to us on an evening.

Thanks

Nowell Mellor.
We’ve got to get ours updated but our original solicitors packed up a few years ago. Family members have recently used Nowell Mellor & been very happy. It’s who we’ll probably go with.
There’s nothing standard or straight forward when it comes to wills, especially if kids are involved. What happens if they’re married with kids but pass away before you? Does their spouse get their share of your estate but then shack up with a real twat that? That’s domething to bear in mind, it happened to a friend & it caused terrible trouble & heartache in the family.

We got free wills written as part of the legal services offered by my union membership so we sorted them out pretty easily online. We even went the extra mile to get the logged at the probate service in London (which was a lot more faff then it felt it should be) - but it's worth checking out of you already pay for something that would do them for free.

Say all money is for blood relatives, if your child is no longer there have the money put aside for when the grandkids turn 21 (or even 25). And don't tell them how much there is, I knew someone that knew he had an inheritance coming so acted like a nob and didn't get any qualifications. When the money came he spent the lot in a year or so, and ended up working a dead end job.

It’s not a simple as that. I’ve been indirectly involved with this. You have to specifically exclude spouses & include your grandkids. (Amongst other things).
