Woke up on Wednesday morning to find a pile of wet clothes abandoned on the hall floor, after realising they weren’t any of ours, we looked around the house and to our astonishment there was a complete stranger sleeping on our settee !

Not knowing who the person was we then phoned the police.
The operator asked “what’s the person doing “ ?
We said “sleeping”
The operator “what are they wearing”
We said “nothing” !

Have to say The police were brilliant and arrived very quickly, woke the young man up & escorted him to the car.

Phone call later revealed he had been out drinking the night before &
Thought he would stay over at a mates house, only got the wrong house !
He has never been in trouble before, comes from a lovely family and was just as shocked as us.

We received a letter from him as an apology and said he was very embarrassed to realise he had walked into our home, removed all his clothes and then slept on our settee !

We have since laughed about it all, but it was quite frightening at the time.

Unfortunately we always lock the door but took some rubbish out & forgot to re-lock it.

We’ve said let us know next time, we will provide a blanket & wake you up with a cup of tea !

Pictures?

I wonder if he realises how lucky he is that he doesn't live in the USA or other places where the response might have been somewhat different..?

Wish it was just a story but it is a true version of events & joking apart
teenage daughter now not sleeping, even though we have tried our best to laugh at it all.
Reason why I'm still awake.

Sorry to hear that, Gas Engineers. I imagine it must have been quite traumatic, especially for your daughter.

No offence intended

No Offence taken, I've got a great sense of humour no problems there. Reality check is in our home,
failed to realise the effect on her, adults see things from a different perspective on things, having watched
3 lads go through late teens we have plenty of stories to tell, at the end of the day who hasn't gone through
their own youth without doing something stupid at sometime, I'm sure you members can recall a memory
from a night out & wish it hadn't happened ! :shifty:

I remember reading about a letter sent to Alfred Hitchcock from a mother who was distraught because her daughter, having watched Psycho, was so traumatised that she would not get into the shower.

What should be done?

Hitchcock sent the reply - "Send her to the Dry Cleaners."

I didn't mean 'story' as in 'fiction', i meant story as in story, the second element in 'history' - quite apart from the fact that this will be one to proverbially tell the grandchildren, can you imagine the poor sap living this down? One can only imagine how much he has been ribbed about it thus far.

"Aren't you the guy who..." sort of thing...
