Stone do the real Ale trail as part of their Food & Drink festival. Travelling on a mini bus you visit a selection of the areas pubs and sampling a pint of real ale in each establishment , you have to book your place on the bus and that is the only up front cost, what you spend on the night is up to you . The pubs love it as the event is organised for traditionally quite mid week nights when they welcome the trade. I dont see why this couldnt work in Staffordben0239 said:Maybe that could be a business venture in the making...... a stafford beer bus tour starting on the north end of town, possibly at Slaters brewery and then ending up in town followed by a nice curry. The beer bus in Cannock and Wolves makes a roaring trade and those pubs are not a patch on the ones we currently have in stafford
If you'd gone to Lambe's, by Ballybrophy station, back when Julia and Statia had it, then you would have found that only the ladies were allowed the use of the internal facilities - the chaps had the full use of the field out the back, though..lisseylee said:didnt even mind going outside to the loo (up the stairs to the toilets not to wee wee in the beer garden)
My friends and I did this without the impetus of a Rangers game the other week and had a crackin day. Thought the Princess Royal was a great place and we've frequented the Hop Pole on a number of occasions before. The pubs up that end of town I think attract an unwanted reputation and also in the case of the Kings Arms are quite hidden away but they're well worth a visit imoStafford Dunc said:Good point you make there LeeA , We sometimes get fixated on town centre pubs. Stafford has plenty of good out of town watering holes to visit . Has anyone else done the North End stagger after watching the Rangers . Rangers Club, Joiners , Kings arms,Tap and Spile , Princess Royal , Hop pole and the 4 crosses .
I did glance at it the other night, whilst checking on the Prince of Wales's staus, and did notice how much better the place looked - back in the old Gate days it was often regarded as a bit of a dive..Fordian said:Also, the Metropolitan bar on the Weston Road is a fantastic pub
