You're right, and the Weston Road can be almost as bad just past the hospital heading into town. That said, what does annoy me are cyclists who ride on the pavement at night with a helmet and lights on, usually going at full pelt. If you have the full gear on, go on the road!Yesterday I was shocked to see going down the tixal rd just how many cars were parked half on the rd other half on the cycle path, with one car on the pavement completely covering the cycle path, how the heck do they get away with that, it's not as though you can miss the bright red lane along the road.
It's mentioned in the document below but that implies that it's a possibility rather than a definite. Not sure, might be access only? Something about down grading? Included Station Rd, Tenterbanks. I'll see if I can dig it out.
Use of cycle paths are not mandatory. Why do cyclists use the road when there's the cycle path for them to use on the path, thus holding up traffic even more??
So you want all the cars who would drive into town to park to drive up to Baswich and cause even more congestion to the area?A park and ride would help - part of the the old Police site in Baswich would be ideal for the south side.
Well what's the point of building them? Certainly creating more cycle paths is not going to solve the traffic crisis in Stafford.Use of cycle paths are not mandatory.
My guess is to fill quotas.Well what's the point of building them? Certainly creating more cycle paths is not going to solve the traffic crisis in Stafford.

The cameras need to be able to detect dummy passengers.great idea. would have to be enforced with cameras to stop abuse
police would have to carry out sting operations if it became a problemThe cameras need to be able to detect dummy passengers.
This has been quite a problem in the USA, apparently.
it could be implemented on the bus lanes we already have i.e. Chell road, bridge streetNot sure we have enough lanes on our roads for that idea @ChrisLewis Could work well if we did.
Cycling could help Stafford but its not without its problems, if large numbers take it up.
Copenhagen's novel problem: too many cyclists
Can there be too many bikes in a city for safety? It's not a question usually asked: the received wisdom, supported by research and backed by campaigning groups, is that the more cyclists there are, the safer the roads become for everyone. But in Copenhagen there are controversial voices coming from unexpected places.
"In Copenhagen, we have quite extraordinary problems around cycling congestion," said Aneh Hajdu, of Wonderful Copenhagen. "I don't take my children on their bikes into Copenhagen at rush hour any more. It's too dangerous and scary. I just wouldn't risk it."
It is not just the locals who are, according to Hajdu, finding the sheer crush of cyclists in Copenhagen an ordeal. "I went on a cycling trip around Copenhagen with a friend visiting from London recently, and she was terrified by the mass of cyclists and the aggressive way they behaved," said Hadju. "She found them so overwhelming that she burst into tears. She was too scared to get back on her bike. We had to put it in a taxi and drive back home."
