Where about is wildwood and what sort of area is that?

I live there so I'd say it's a good area :) . Good primary schools in the area ,Barnfields on the estate and and Oakridge on Hillcroft Park estate nearby, and catchment area of Walton High School which is only 10-15mins walk away .

If you live up Wildwood, Weeping Cross, Walton area it's a nice walk down the bridle paths to Cannock Chase.

My advice? move somewhere where you can walk or cycle to everything you need. Driving a car is nightmare in Stafford and set to get much worse.

I think there's been way too much locationism in this thread :D, no-one has recommended living in the north end!!

Not only is the north end of Stafford the most well-provisioned for cycle paths, with the Stafford to Newport cycle track traversing our area, (this is also National cycleway No. 5 )- http://www.staffordbc.gov.uk/beaconside-to-derrington-cycle-route. enabling car free travel to town and other areas of Stafford, we are also sandwiched between the best open spaces in Stafford, The Common,

and Doxey Marshes Nature reserve http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doxey_Marshes.

The aforementioned cycleway goes across the Doxey Marshes:

Furthermore, the schools are brilliant, Balfour just got an excellent Ofsted report:

and primaries: http://www.parkside.staffs.sch.uk/keyinfo.asp

And there are loads of good houses!!

The final reason the North is best is because we don't have to venture near the gridlock which masquerades as a road known as the A34 Lichfield Rd. This links Baswich, Wildwood and most of the rest of the South end of town to Stafford. Traffic is much much better in the north end than the south as there are less of us!

Cool thanks for that! I'll probably will need to drive as I'll have my equipment unless I work part time for a gym, then I can cycle.

I'd like to take up cycling properly so this is pretty handy, that and mountain biking

Ideal if you like folk with Quad-copters flying around photographing everything you do ;)

Oh and don't forget the drive by shootings...

Kyoto49 ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!?

Goldilocks, you do not want to live in North End (yes, I know I live in North End), - the current average age of kids playing in the street (just round the corner) is 2 - 3 years... according to 'Current Spotted Stafford' on Facebook my street is host to a meth lab & a prostitute that looks like a man (??) also you cant leave anything outside, or in a shed as it will be stolen. Be prepared to have your car keyed, or driven into as mine was last week!

I have a feeling Kyoto49 might mean Holmcroft & Tillington are nice areas (right by North End, & just behind the Tillington Hall Hotel).

If you go here....

http://www.streetwatch.info/

....you can put in a postcode for an area you are interested in & it will tell you things like house prices & crime rates (& what crimes) have been reported in that area/postcode...

Thanks for that! I'm staying at tillington hall next Saturday so I'll have a look about.

Yeh I don't fancy that... Prostitute that looks like a man

Thanks everyone I love this forum, it's really helping me a lot. It'll feel like home before I live there, so I'm not venturing in to unknown territory!

I used live up on Crab Lane near to the Stone Road end, loved it up there. Shame I couldn't afford a house when I was hunting a few yrs ago.
