St Thomas' is as far as the road will go. What was once the EDR is now simple Eastern Access improvements, the road will simply join Baswich Lane as it is, bridges, bends and all then join the Lichfield / Cannock roads at Weeping Cross.

True. Nobody thinks Baswich lane is particularly good. But what I tend to find is that when there's a bit of a queue at the crossroads by the crematorium quite a number of people turn left and head towards Tixall.

In my experience the two places that cause the most issues (ie. queuing) on the route is the first sharp corner and the double roundabouts. The canal bridge is a pain, but you don't seem to see that many cars waiting.

The canal bridge used to be much more exciting years ago - before the pedestrians had their own one next to it - and, in the winter, the ramp up used to be fairly slippy, people would follow a car up it, only to find that, when it stopped due to approaching traffic, it would slide back down into them.

The 'bent bridge' by the farm is more of an obstruction than it needs to be, but only due to drivers who don't believe that two cars can pass in opposite directions on it.

The stone bridge is complicated by those who insist on driving along the white line, when there's four feet of tarmac to their left.

The planning nincompoops should realise that speeding up traffic heading to a bottleneck actually slows down journeys.

The next opportunity for a new bypass to be included in a strategic plan will be when the Plan for Stafford is reviewed. The Plan for Stafford has a plan period from 2011 - 2031....I do not expect the plan to be reviewed any time soon Mr Lefroy!
It is too late to campaign for a new bypass now because it should have been included in the Plan for Stafford.
Fortunately, not only did SBC delete sections C&D of the EDR, they did not include building housing on it either. Hence the refusal at Cornwall Dr and Falmouth Ave. Walton Garden Village should go the sane way for the same reason also.

Steve B, the planning authority don't need allocate housing development sites for them to come forward. Speculative applications can still come forward. There is a presumption in favour of sustainable development. This presumption in favour of development is increased if a local authority cannot demonstrate a 5 year housing land supply. This issue is currently being debated at the Ash Flats appeal.

Do you know the current status of Cornwall Dr and Falmouth Av? Has a planning appeal been lodged? I suspect a lot of developers are waiting on the outcome of the Ash Flats Appeal. Currently, SBC are claiming to have a 5 year housing land supply because they are relying on the strategic development allocations coming forward in the next 5 years. This is a risky strategy because strategic allocations always take a while to come forward. If the Inspector has concerns about when the Strategic Development Allocations will come forward, he / she could conclude that SBC does not a 5 yr housing land supply. If this happens, the floodgates for speculative applications will start again and the inspectorate may consider applications such as Falmouth Av favourably.

Steve B, I have lost count at the amount of times I have seen objectors try and claim village green status...

In most cases they are unsuccessful. In order to be able to demonstrate village green status you need to be able to demonstrate / prove that the area has been used continuously for 20 years (without a break). It is also very difficult to get village green status if the land is within private ownership.

The Ash Flats appeal is very important.

What a load of rubbish. If Jeremy Lefroy was serious about wanting a new bypass for the south of Stafford, he would have campaigned for it to be included in the recently adopted Plan for Stafford. This would of ensured that the infrastructure was considered alongside the proposed residential allocations.

The Strategic Plan that Mr Lefroy wants, he already has. It's called the Plan for Stafford which identifies how the Borough will grow over the next 20 years...isn't this strategic enough!!

Mr Lefory is merely trying to win votes from individuals that do not understand that what he is saying is a load of rubbish!

The next opportunity for a new bypass to be included in a strategic plan will be when the Plan for Stafford is reviewed. The Plan for Stafford has a plan period from 2011 - 2031....I do not expect the plan to be reviewed any time soon Mr Lefroy!

I'm just wondering, has Mr Lefroy made any difference to the bigger picture for Stafford residents. Did he change the outcome at the Hospital for example or any other significant issue in the town.? Shouting now, as you say, about a new road seems a complete waste of time. More electioneering I think.

I doubt the Cornwall Drive application will be appealed - it would raise a lot of questions about "inside information" being available to the developer!

6th weekday in a row its taken me over an hour to travel from north stafford to south. What makes those numptys at the council think its a good idea to build a massive retail centre in the town centre when the road infrastructure clearly cant take it?

Do you work close? Within 6 miles of town then ride a bike :britain:

Ok ill find a different route. Perhaps go out towards rugeley and back through haywood, down the tixall.....wait. its closed. Ok, through milford down radford bank.....wait its nose to bumped and will take me three times as long. Ok, ill go to cannock then join the m6 to get off at 13 and head north to rowley bank. Only thing is it will take three times as long as sitting in the traffic so i dont think i will take your advice. I think everybody is entitled to moan about the traffic as it is not an accident. Its all been planned by a group of people at the council. Its organised chaos. The works could have been staggered but they chose to close a load of shite, not me. I will bitch about it all i want ta very much.
Do you perchance, work for the council??
