Big new Next store for Stafford

There are indeed millions of Costas, they are owned by Whitbread and are also franchised out, specifically within other stores (Waterstones, Next etc) and then they also extend their coffee supply to other stores (e.g Asda cafe). I always found it funny that people criticized Starbucks or Nero for being aggressive in their advancement, while there would be double the amount of Costas near by.

A Next clothing store in Stafford will be knocked down and the outlet moved into a combined fashion and home store nearby, creating 50 new jobs.

The Next Home store at Queensville Retail Park, Stafford, will be knocked down and replaced with a huge new site in a move creating up to 50 jobs

Plans have been approved to demolish the fashion shop on Queensville Retail Park and to move it in with Next Home, which is also on the Silkmore Lane retail site .
The company plans to extend the unit 11, currently Next Home and sell all products from the one combined outlet.
It is not known what will happen to the site of the demolished Next clothing store.

The development will mean a £7m investment to the area, according to Hercules Unit Trust, which submitted the plans.
The trust owns of the shopping site and were approved by Stafford Borough Council.
Next took over the current clothing store in 2008 and opened the home store in 2010.
The extension of the current home store and the changes to the layout of the car park will mean the loss of 52 spaces.
A cafe will also be included in the new store.

However, developers claim the new development will deliver ' a high quality well designed building that will complement and enhance the retail park'.
The new extended 'dual format' store will sell women's wear, menswear and children's wear, as well as a Next Home store, selling furniture and home furnishing goods.
The store will also have separate entrances for the fashion departments and the home range and the company had also hoped to introduce its 'home and garden' store, including an external garden centre but there is not enough space at the site to accommodate an external garden centre.
The new extended store will be open next year. Other retailers on the site include Hobbycraft, New Look, Pets at Home, Matalan, Mothercare, Brantano, Poundstretcher, and ASDA Living.

One in; one out, you shake it all about, then the big guys get bigger; then they get smaller and then they go online; then they go off line; then they go on the high street; then they go to the retail parks!

Yea my wife is sales supervisor there, she doesn't know how long she has a job for. Just what you want when you're about to buy a house on Wildwood. She's has applied for 6 jobs last night, hopefully she'll get something before we move.
That's pants :( My husband went through similar when Dreams went bums up, 2 years later & we are still not back on track. Wish you & your family lots of luck, hope she finds something soon.

All the best to her, and hope she gets something sorted ASAP.

Think we need to put this into context.

Brantano have NOT gone bust but are in administration. If the reports are true all staff will continued to paid and all stores will remain open for now while the company pursues a buyer.

So short term that seems to be their position, longer term we will see. Think some should be careful with words when people's jobs and security are on the line. And hopefully staff are consulted and informed before any press releases.

They closed 30 of the poorest performing stores as of yesterday 1700. Stafford is the best performing store in the county so should stay open for the time being.

I'm surprised brantano is in administration. I buy a lot of stuff online, however not shoes. When buying shoes you need to try them on.

I'm not a regular visitor to brantano, however I assume they stock a wide range of shoes at competitive prices.

I'm confident that a buyer would buy the business.

Whenever I've gone into Brantano, it's dead.

Though, I never like to see anyone lose their job.

I used to buy the odd pair of shoes from Brantano.

I like the format that everything is laid out in your size so you can see straight away what they have (and try on) without having to wait for an assistant to bring your size.

However the last few times that I have been in there was nothing to buy. Just dreadfully old fashioned shoes at very infllated prices.

I am not surprised at all that they are not doing well but like @1JKz says , its not nice to see people lose jobs.

I still think the format would work but they need to stock shoes that people actually want to buy.

Yes, I do wonder if it lost its way a bit. I always thought it was supposed to be a discounted shoe place, but the Clarks were always more than they cost in the main shop.

now I'm the opposite....I buy shoes/trainers online, and have never has any fitting / quality issues... The one time I bought from Brantano and the items were fine for a month and then fell apart.
