Big new Next store for Stafford

The one that this thread is about @bigbluewolf !

Currently the large Next home is empty & being refurbished? Next clothing is moving in with the home store.....& Dreams are taking the current clothing store....

Although confusingly, the new Dreams Stafford manager should start in about 4 weeks....& none of the buildings look ready....
I asked because I knew the Next Home unit is now empty but is being knocked down and that the Next Clothing store is still occupied.

I cannot see the Next Clothing store shutting whilst the new unit is being built. I have heard the the new unit which is going to be built won't be ready until next year.

It is very strange, but the job advert is for Queensville & the inside info gives it as Next & to start in 4 weeks.....unless anyone else knows of any other units that will suddenly become available....

They're going to extend, not knock it down and start again, right, really, are they, knocking it down to waste money building the thing again?

I think you're right @1JKz, I reckon they will just put a mezzanine (sp?) in the larger store & Bob's your Uncle...

...although the newspaper article did state that they were demolishing one of the Next stores...

As the article said that the store was being demolished and 52 car park spaces were going, it looks to me as it won't be a quick job.

I really can't see Next Clothing being shut before the new store is ready to trade from.

There are already barriers around the homeware next store.... When the stores on that retail park were being refurbed before being taken on by asda home, hobbycraft etc, they were more or less gutted and rebuilt. As next is going to have a mezzanine (as per the plan submission) I would expect the best thing to do would be to demo and start again....

No, but as I said....maybe somewhere else on the park will be closing quick sharp....
The only way there would be a quick turnaround is if one of the tenants moved out of one of the done up units.... I can't see next moving until the new store is open. If pounstretcher or matalan closed the developer would probably want to renovate it so it fell in line with the others from a "look" point of vie

....or if one of the units rental time is up in the next few weeks...

I 'know' from the job application details that its going in Queensville (why they're not just reinstating the old store on Greyfriars is a mystery- its just as they left it complete with signage)..

'Gossip' from Dreams employees is that its going into the smaller Next unit & will open in about 4 weeks....who knows....Bensons for beds recently refurbished their store & had a mezzanine installed & it only took 4 weeks!

Either way its a mystery! :mystery:

I'd be gobsmacked if it was done in 4 weeks !

Thought Dreams had gone bust!
They closed a huge amount of stores, made hundreds redundant (husband included) & went from being a PLC to a LTD company...but never quite faded away....& hence us knowing people that still work there...

Enjoying a drop of red.

Bet they left lots of creditors in the lurch whilst they were at it, never mind paying the absolute minimum redundancy they could get away with.

I noticed this morning that the side & back of the big store are missing...

I went past on the train this morning and noticed workmen on site. Also saw them working on the rear (so to speak) on Tuesday.
