I'd buy up a bunch of the old factory / warehouse buildings around the north end of town and convert them into luxury apartment buildings, none of those new build 800 square feet 2 bedroom junk, we're talking 3000 square feet luxury apartments with air conditioning, fancy stair cases and closets the size of the average new build apartment.

Pick an empty building in Stafford, tell us what you'd do with it if you had the money
I'd commandeer the Shire Hall, and the ex-library behind it, as a permanent home for the Staffordshire Hoard in its entirety. Side rooms would be dedicated to contextualising the collection, as well as work rooms for the cleaning and research of the finds - all open access so you could ask the Archaeologists about the work they are doing.
New Rule!! (If a building isn't empty you need to say where you'd relocate the current occupants)
The Art Gallery space can stay, as can the Court & Holding Cell, but Wolverhampton University would have to, well, not move in in the first place. Which is probably what they'll do anyway.

I ♥ cryptic crosswords
A Mayfair style giant basement linking the 39 steps of the buried bogs in the Market Sq to the Nuclear Bunker in Martin Street and beyond to the Priest holes of Eastgate Street converted to a fanny factory and frotel

Not all authentic Italian restaurants are expensive....far from it. In fact, family run restaraunts tend to be cheaper, smaller and cosier than the chain restaurants.

Pasta and Pizza are hardly expensive ingredients.

And to correct my earlier post, no you don't actually have to go to Italy to find a good Italian restaurant.

But I do expect as a minimum, Italian chefs and waiters and, some effort made to indicate representation of the country itself.

Each to their own but I don't consider any chain to be "authentic Italian".

It doesn't mean that I don't enjoy a meal in say Pizza Express but when I do, I think of myself as "going out for a pizza" rather than "going out to a nice Italian restaurant."

You would like this Carole www.casamiasandbach.co.uk beware though they won't let you leave I was there two Sunday's ago and they kept trying to give us free samples of Grappa and homemade chccolate liquor. A very entertaining owner with a brilliant sene of humour.

Wouldn't be much use as a family home the sound of kids playing wouldn't be well contained and no garden. Also would be difficult to keep the down stairs living areas warm with all the heat rising up stairs.
I don't even think this is a good example of a conversion since it doesn't appear to that sympathetic to the industrial nature of the building. Conversions when done well are a joy to behold however I find little evidence of real architectural thought in this picture.

Yeah, I don't actually like the example I posted, it was an easy to find example of the size I was thinking about. This is more the style I like, original features incorporated and style adhered to, but it's much too small to be a fantasy, not much bigger than my current place.

I've always loved the idea of open plan living, but the reality of everything smelling of cooking doesn't appeal

If I won the lottery I would open a lap dancing club but I suspect the good wife might put the block on that!
