I was going to put this is the Bates gun shop to be a Micropub thread but decided it warranted a thread of it's own.

Pick an empty building in Stafford, tell us what you'd do with it if you had the money

New Rule!! (If a building isn't empty you need to say where you'd relocate the current occupants)

(Map and suggested empty building that need new uses here - https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=z6tNEyXdRc2g.kQ5IHzdWOQqs&usp=sharing)

Yes, they did. I remember them having a few open air gig nights during one summer. The artist just sat between the pub and Cash Converters on an amp surrounded by tea lights. Loved it.

I was thinking of the PandA house the other day - it looks so sad empty (as does Chambers) - If I had the money I'd sort out a Bier Keller / Hofbrauhaus for PandA with quality sausage and beers

No idea on what I'd do with Chambers yet - anyone else

P&A would be high on my list too, cider bar selling sausages. Was never sure it was viable yet you'd do the same but with ales, interesting!

I'd also sell small snacky stuff, but nowt too fancy. Bit like the Kings Arms do, just a small bowl with a few deep fried bits of something in breadcrumbs/batter. Basically only stuff that can thrown in a fryer for a set amount of time to make it easy (they have a tiny kitchen).

Chambers, dunno. Its a bit big and its listed, options are limited. I would love a glass roof over Martin Street and turn every ground level building into small food outlets, then turn the upstairs into flats. Think it'd make a great addition to the town.

Wasn't there some plan to do something like that to Princes Street

My favourite building in Stafford is St Leonard's School - not sure what I would do with it, I would have to see what the neighbours were like first...

The "Indian Building" on Eastgate Street would make a great Balti House.

I would buy the University and turn it into a University.

The Sandonia needs help - now.

That's just fine being a school for now ;)

Which is the 'Indian' Building on Eastgate St?

It does, I agree just not sure on what - theater maybe?

There is a bar in Nashville called Roberts Western World, it’s the best bar in the world effectively, fairly long, bar along the right hand side, stage at the front near the door and fairly narrow. If I had the money I would look to recreate that bar in Stafford, the closest building, if it was longer is the bap shop, so I would buy them out.

Ooh, pretty sure @Goldilox and I saw a band in there. good call, although there must be empty long buildings somewhere - unless you relocate the bap shop

I would also like to own the short line of shops to the north of St Chad's, so that they could be replaced by something a bit less offensive - though, possibly with the same tenants.

The pebble-dashed wall would be conserved - and rebuilt two feet away from the windows of the planning department.

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
I've always thought about opening a place for teenagers to hang out*. After all, when you are 13-18(ish) there is absolutely nowhere for you to go besides McDonalds or KFC etc. Quite how I would make the place cool* enough for teenagers I don't know. I know it would need to serve subsidised food and drinks and be free to visit and it would need entertainment of some sort (most likely consoles and other stuff). Doubt it will every happen though as I don't have the finances available to start it or run it.

*if any teenagers are reading this then please substitute whichever words you are using for these,

That's why this is fantasy town planning - that would be a cool use for the Sandonia

not sure what it looks like inside it or exactly how big, , but the new morissons building, would turn it into a sports adventure centre, swimming pool, wall climbing, football courts, tennis, squash etc, for children and adults.

I thought it was being taken over by Wolves Uni but I'm not sure if that's still the plan.
I'll have a look in a bit - when I've been into the Art Gallery lately, the Wolves bit, at the other end, has just had people sitting there, waiting for something happen,.

I still think Stafford needs a decent Italian restaurant or even a Mediterranean one ... something like Ask or Ego. I do know there are going to be some in the new development but parts of the town are starting to look a bit dead now.
