aldi breach half of planning conditions

Popped in again later during our walk when hubby came home from work. He spent quite a bit of time eyeing up the booze aisle in readiness for our stock-up at the weekend. I can't remember what beers were there except it was under a quid for a bottle of Banks's. Most beers about £1.25 a bottle. Quite a few different wines from £3 upwards to get round to trying out, as well as some ciders I've never seen before :)

The 'Sweet Chilli ' chicken portions I got for tea were really tasty, infact considering cooking the second pack to go with my ciders later (Greedy I know, and hubby would be :blah: , but they were soooo lovely ). Saving all my pennies now for when I drive down to do a proper shop. Some nice tasty looking stuff in the fridge section ( including the £1.59 extra mature cheddar which is going down a bit too well )

Not so crowded when I went back about 5pm-ish , and a few spaces left on the carpark at that time.

Quite a few people walking from there with a few carrier bags full, so looks like the Wildwood Co-op maybe losing quite a few local customers.
It looks like I'm going to have to train you a little harder if you're to become my anonymous ale analyser. I need brand names, their costs, whether they're IPAs or stouts. I want to know whether they're doing any, Sorry? What "off" and go and see for yourself?..........

They had Spitfire, Old Empire, Hobgoblin (+Hobgoblin Gold), a few Badgers and some others that i can't now remember.

Unaccountably, i made no mental note of prices of any of them, but they did have a 'selection box' type affair of 12 'classic ales' for £14. something.

Cheers buddy. That's disappointing, the same old, same old, then. I won't bother trekking up there but rather go past it and on to the brilliant Wine Loft at Wolseley Bridges, instead. Oh, how I wish that George Bates gun shop was to be a bottle shop. It's either online with Beers of Europe, or a train to Stoke (Bottle Craft) or Brum (Cotteridge's) for some decent beers then.

I'll take photos next time, the old memory cells aren't what they used to be :D Pity they weren't giving samples out ...(Brings back memories of B'ham airport promoting malt whiskies with a table full of 'Try before you buy'. Went back round so many times, it's a wonder we were allowed on the plane  )

Aldi beers really do disappoint me. I am no snob, far from it but their selection is both small and poor.

drove past on my way into town this morning people queuing already ! And funnily enough staff members parking and walking from the pub car park opposite , perhaps this was the consideration granted before the planning committee on Wednesday

Like the one at Stone, the carpark will overload and vehicles will be queuing to get in and out, causing gridlock. Buy green bananas and they should be ripe by the time you get home.

I can't see the appeal it is just a cheap food shop that will be open all day.
I'm much more of a Lidl shopper than an Aldi one, Aldi have rather more choice than I like - I just want to go in, get what I actually came for, pay for it and go home.

A lot of Aldi/Lidl food items could be placed in M&S boxes, with little chance of anybody complaining.

It won't be open all day, in the 24 hour sense.

And, neither Aldi nor Lidl both sell tobacco products.

And Lidl never move stuff about pointlessly.

I live in dread of the Western Access Route buggering up Lidl - access to what?

Tesco and ASDA sell cheap food too, only they charge more for it because they have gigantic stores with duplicity of products. You have a choice, if you're fussy and think you need about 50 choices of Coffee or margarine then by all means shop at the big supermarkets.

Anyone who lives in Baswich area will welcome any competition to the rip off shop that is the Co-op. Going anywhere else other than Co-op in that area means driving all the way into town to get to ASDA, Tesco or Sainsburys.

I'd have used Lidl more if it wasn't so far away.

The tobacco, paypoint and lottery thing is a bit deal for me. Always held up in Co-op shops by people buying lottery tickets, baccy and paying their bills. I wouldn't mind so much but these people are often rather ignorant and blocking the basket shelf by the till so I can put my heavy basket down.

I sometimes get a few quid in Co-op vouchers and use them stock up on Red Label tea - it's the only time I go in one.

To clarify, they don't sell cheap food, They sell excellent quality food very cheaply.

In my opinion.

I shop all over the place, it depends what mood I am in but I have only visited Aldi a couple of times because they don't stock the brands I like and their alternatives are not to my taste. If you are shopping on a budget they are excellent value but it isn't a place that appeals to me.

Until a couple of years ago, when shopping in Lidl became a little bit 'trendy', it was noticeable that there was much less hassle in there from people with dickhead children. Sadly, the difference is less acute now.

No they don't do brands.

But for fresh fruit, vegetables and fresh meat they are wonderful.

It's not so much about being on a budget, but perfect for those who can't bear wasting or spending more than is necessary.

I stopped being snotty about food and supermarkets after spending a crappy summer packing various frozen vegetables:- same supplier into different retailer bags with different prices. I don''t think it has changed much..

Most of the sliced bread you buy is from the same bakery they just change the wrappers.
