Morrisons pass on leasehold interest at Kingsmead.

The council generously injected a few million of our money into LXB. Now we're not going to get anything back directly (apparently) and the Morrisons ghost will impact on the north end of town, which ultimately costs us more.

I believe the figure was £2million for which we got a 1000 place car park at Waterfront.

@alphagamma, are you a headline writer for the Newsletter in real life?
Well that got me thinking, what is 'real life' ? How do we know when we are living a 'real life' ? Maybe the industrial revolution put an end to 'real life'
Perhaps 'real life' kicks in as we approach death or as we down that third pint......

I may have eaten too much cheese last night......

If the council need to open the Kingsmead carpark, ASAP, will whoever owns it now be able to flog it for a ridiculous price? Has this been the plan for some time?

I guess the plan was for Morrison's to open it as their car park. Park for two or three hours free whilst you shop. Have cameras on the exit and charge people who overstay their welcome. All bets are off now.

Triple Jumper could always open it as a pay for car park. That's what LXB did at Riverside and Kingsmead before the development started. They'll have to start to recoup the £24m somehow.

They can't afford it and don't want it. All they want is the car park open. The new owners will have to do pending finding an occupier for the main part of the building.

Part of the £25m they have stashed away could buy it. Think of the embarrassment if the carpark and building sit empty for any longer.
