See the Swiss have reached a "compromise"....

They have enacted a law which states a Swiss person will be employed in preference to anyone else all things being equal. Still have freedom of movement etc...

The EU's definition of free movement includes "enjoy equal treatment with nationals in access to employment, working conditions and all other social and tax advantages".

I wonder if they will consider the Swiss to be playing the Single Market game legitimately?

Amazing how some people jump on anything when article 50 hasn't been triggered. We are still in the EU. The gloomy forecasts were based on the expectation of Cameron triggering A50 immediately as he said he would. Reality is he resigned and we are still in the EU.
However there are businesses making plans to leave. You only have to look at many American investment banks who have been planning since well before the referendum.

But they still will, and if at the end of this process they are still equal in all respects then the local gets it. They're still equal, but some are more equal than others.

If that is the case, then the job could go to to any of the equal parties now, anyway - nothing to stop the local getting the job now...
