Stuck in traffic through roadworks on the M6 this afternoon. Decided to try a detour via Knutsford but that was also blocked, 1hr 20 min journey eventually took 3hr 30min.

Or Google maps. Did it in an hour fourty from Manchester, if I'd have got on at 19 it was suggesting three hours.

I usually check the roads for problems before starting out but the trip up to Bolton had been OK and it was a Sunday and the Sun was out, what could possibly go wrong.

The motorway network

Is a serious threat to economic stability

The unfathomable nature of estimated journey times becomes more critical

Only an oil price hike can calm volumes , which in turn provides its own economy crisis

Decided against flying from Manchester again if I can help it. Luckily our traffic back home late friday afternoon was flowing quite well the other week, but M56 all the way down to the airport the other way was standing still, and M6 northbound hardly moving at all from 19 for most of our journey back . Was glad I wasn't going the other way to the airport! Took us longer to get out of the bloody airport than the drive home .....first off the plane, thinking we were doing well until the chaos at passport control. Over 2 hours to get through there and get the cases and then the courtesy bus took 20 minutes to do the few yards from the airport to the carpark 5 minutes walk away (should have gone with my suggestion on walking it! ) with chaos on the airport roads.

BHX by train (or car using the Toll) is a good bet as is East Mids. Providing they actually have flights to your chosen destination.

Jet2 are starting using Birmingham from next summer, good flight times and slightly cheaper than Manchester when I looked last night as well :) (always use the toll when going from BHX, no matter what hubby says :blah:..I'm driving and the money is already ready to grab ;).)

Bought another clock today. I saw it last week but managed to resist, though it had a particularly nice case. However, I noticed today that the price had fallen by two thirds, so I relented. It looks like some potential buyer has managed to disconnect the chime spring, but it should be fixable, I hope. The time-side runs beautifully, anyway.

Monitors packing up, new one on order from amazon, have to compute with a dull flickering screen till friday. :(

If you mean a computer monitor... wait! cancel your order! I have a monitor I don't need any more, you can have it at no cost. I've been meaning to list it on this forum. The monitor is one of these, 24" Dell: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00H3JIGHA. I live just outside the town centre, just off the Marston road. Yours if you want it, if you can collect (I'm in all day, collect any time).
