Today I Heard.....

basil

don't mention the blinds
Today I heard in the Co-Op.

Man on the till says to the woman at the counter (in front of me)......

"Hello Sue, you look different, is that a new hair do"

"Yes" she says "It's called a man bun"

I found it very difficult not to interfere with this conversation and ask... "isn't a bun on a woman just "a bun" and it's only a man bun if it's actually on a man?

Maybe confused i.e. Arsenal playing at home...

This is just one of the reasons why I stopped patronising the Co-op.

Ah well, that aside, the co op does have its benefits.

I got some vouchers through the post saying £3 off if you spend more than £30.

I needed to buy 3 bottles of champagne this week for various gifts.

So if you buy 4 bottles of wine at the co op you get 15% off.

So a bottle of Lanson or Moët that's already on offer with £10 off, then another 15% off, then another £3 off.

Brings a bottle of champagne that would usually cost £38 or £40 down to about £23.

Actually the reason I stopped using them, even though it was massively convenient, was over the newsagent saga. I've not used them since then and only used Aldi. I find Aldi better in every single way.

But I do find your wine/champers offer strangely compelling. Can't think why...

Ah yes. The newsagent thing.

Honestly, I really admire you for your integrity.
I hated what they did to Ali and I also didn't shop there for months.

And then I gave in.

But I do most of my main shopping at Aldi, love it, love it, love it.

We had steak tonight from Aldi and their meat is just gorgeous.

But I buy quite a lot of booze from the co op because of the double discount ( you still get 15% off 4 or more bottles even if it's already discounted)

I know.

I had utmost integrity until I got cheap wine.

Everyone can be bought for a price.

Turns out that I was won over for a about a few quid or thereabouts.

Same here...

I now just make the most of the offers if it's something I really want and its a bargain, and do most of my shopping in Aldi.

...Harvey Weinstein repeatedly called Wine Steen.

Surely it is either Wine Stine or Ween Steen?

Or Vine Stine, properly?

Not that that is perhaps the important bit.

...somebody tell me that the Northern lights should be visible tonight, apparently - "Which direction should I look?"

Resisting the obvious temptation, I suggested that she looks straight out of the back window, not that she's likely to see anything.

Yesterday, she asked me if I could tell if an indoor TV aerial that she had bought in a charity shop would work in a house in Derby. I suggested that actual experimentation was likely to give a more accurate answer. "I don't want to go all the way there, if it doesn't work" - I suggested that I stood a slim chance of assessing this aerial over the phone - "It is black and silver".....

This is the same person that once asked me to convert centimetres to millimetres.

Her entire working life was spent as a teacher.

The other day.

A man in my village (a friend) said

"Am very excited, just off to collect a classic MG, yeah, my wife got it for me for my birthday"

Me ......"Your wife? But she doesn't earn any money, she gave up her job to look after you and the girls and run the house and garden.
How can she afford to buy you that then?"

Him...... "Ah yes well, what I should have said was that because it's my birthday, she's allowing me to spend my own money". :D
