Stafford shops opening - Turning into a boom town?

I wonder if a Freedom of Information request would be useful to find out the success ratio of Stafford Mayoral openings......

A sad day as I lose one of my original Tipping Street retail tenants to a premise upgrade. They are still staying in Stafford but moving to a younger model with better frontage. Onwards and upwards – Boom town thread 1 Ghost town 0 !?!.

Hopefully the boom town thread will prevail over the ghost town thread and it will present an opportunity for a local low cost start up business. I better get my skates on a start the quest for a new tenant before the doomsday “ghost town” thread kicks into action.

The rent on Princes street is probably cheaper than the market, plus their opening hours aren't restricted. Hopefully they will do well there.

The rent aint bad but the area is dead, looked around there recently but for the price you pay you are in amongst empty units and the only footfall is heading to Home Bargains (Argos is off soon). I wish them well but it's a brave move, I wouldn't risk my own money on it.

My local agents are of the opinion that it might still be there, but they have never been customers and have paid little attention to it..

An attempt to get them to pop out in their slippers for a quick look did not seem to provoke a positive response, but I have just had a statement that it is still there.....

Direct pizza is still going but the largest pizza they do nowadays is 20". They claim it's the largest in Stafford and comes round or square!!!

I have a very hazey memory of buying two 24" pizzas for the price of one once only to find the boxes wouldn't fit in my fridge so we had to scoff most of them and plate the rest :)

Perhaps they scaled back after the uni closed, I imagine it gave them a lot of custom for the 24”. It was a great way to get 4 medium-large square pizzas on the cheap and get to have multiple topping choices per person.

For Councillor Baron to oppose this on traffic grounds is wide of the mark. It is not going to be a main dealer such as WR Davies or Knights BMW. A used car dealer such as this will generate less traffic than The Frankie and Bennys who traded before. There may be plenty of reasons to object to this change of use but citing traffic grounds shows a complete lack of knowledge.

All Councillor Baron is interested in is her own self-promotion.
