Stafford shops closing - Turning into a ghost town?

Four, at one time.

I have fond memories of the old days where there were the stalls and the circle.

Being the only one to show up for Conan the Barbarian.

Think it must have been half term or something.

Me, the ice cream lady and the projectionist.

They were nice enough to ask if I was ready for them to start.

I just believe that if Stafford had a central music venue of that capacity, people would come to the town on a regular basis.

Stafford has a great live music history

Sadly the insurance liabilities may even outcost your win

It’s not even that expensive to go to the ‘lying down cinema’ (as it’s called in our house).

I bought a two-day UK travel insurance policy through Compare The Market. It cost £3 and I’ve got two-for-one cinema tickets for a year.

I was going to choose entirely random dates for the policy but in the end plumped for a weekend when I am actually away. If I fall off my bicycle, I can now be medically repatriated from Wales.

We’ve seen way more films since the lying down cinema opened. The people there are so considerate. The lady next to me sucked a whole tube of Pringles so as not to crunch during Mary Queen of Scots.

Meerkat movies is only useful if you can go Tue/Wed - we were looking at taking the boy this weekend for his first ever cinema trip and we figured £15 for the three of us was enough to spend on what could be a terrible experience.

The Odeon comes in at twice that, for the same film. That's a big jump in costs when your options for time are limited.

You’re absolutely right, of course. We’re lucky to be able to go out on a school night, especially as the film times tend to be too early or quite late.

I’ve booked two tickets in the lying down cinema this Weds night for a total of £7.75.

As well as the Meerkat discount I’ve got an NUS card until July and my husband is ancient. I always like choosing one student and one senior citizen ticket because it sounds as though I’m having a News of the World relationship with my lecturer.

Indeed, hardly surprising. Less and less people actually go to the cinema these days, and honestly if I’m going to go I’m going to pay the little extra to get the Odeon Luxe treatment with comfy seats, etc.

But this isn't true. Cinema admissions have pretty consistently increased since about 1990...

The Odeon is showing Alien tonight. Classic.
