As mentioned before not much in the way of resistance machines

Dont think i will bother as its geared more to loose weights. Doesnt seem to have a matted area either for floor excercises.

No treadmills, rowers?

Not many screens either.
Hope it's not aimed at those bunch of blokes, who prefer to stare at themselves in the mirrors!

I'll be in next week anyhums, see what's what.

I took it for granted that they'd be a number (bigger than 5!) of resistance machines and joined accordingly, upps, oh well, i can give it a few months and if it doesn't work out, then go back to Riverside.

I just cancelled my DD with Riverside in anticipation of going back to Beaconside.
Hi how did you get on. Does the gym have enough resistance machines

You know what, i think it does, not as many as Riverside, but enough (i think) for a decent (mine anyway) workout.
I guess it just means educating myself in the free weights that little bit more and using some machines, i usually otherwise wouldn't.

I'll allow a few niggly bits to continue for the first few visits; screens not on, wifi on the treadmills not working, no drinking water, no hand sanitiser (that i saw), MJ on a loop etc, but it was within the first couple of days of reopening and my first time, back.
I wonder how it'll cope when it's busy, if it does get busy like the old days, but it now seems bigger and i feel plenty of space for more machines, if need be.
The treadmills facing the wall is odd and when the screens on the walls are working, there'll not be enough of them imo, saying that they have included LOTS of power sockets everywhere for extra this and that, but overall, it's good, brand new machines and feel, so we'll/i'll see.

What JezLef has to say about it, taken from his monthly newsletter;
Beacon Sport and Fitness Centre
The sports and fitness centre on Weston Road has re-opened after renovation and re-equipping by the Beacon Group. Details are available at: www.beaconsport.co.uk.
The official opening is on Sunday 10th September when the centre will host The Beacon Show between 11am and 5pm. All are welcome.
I am delighted that this much-missed sports centre is open again to the public, and that the sports pitches will also continue to be available.

I hope they've sorted out the showers and changing rooms. Last time I was there we had to use some temporary building outside (though it was getting on to 5 years ago, before I hung my boots up).

You (re)joining-up?

I doubt it, i was a member for 4yrs before it closed last year. I have a problems with muscle weakness which doctors have not yet diagnosed. Before it closed i could easily max out the majority of the resistance machines doing multiple sets of ten, now i doubt i could move even the lightest weight

In an unexpected turn of events, parents are once again causing huge amounts of congestion in the beaconside car park now that it’s open again, so their DD and DS don’t have to walk home in the dry weather.

Never again will I make the mistake of picking up some pills at 15.30

Starting to pick-up now, looking like the old days, busyish and can only get busier.

Soon, i'll have to start complaining there's not enough treadmills.

I believe 3 months is the average.
I've seen em come, i've seen em go.

I'm safe in the knowledge every year that the machines tend to become very busy til about Feb, then, it's business as usual for those of us that go all year round.
