Leave or Remain?

If we can build a short road in 2 years after several more of planning we can certainly leave the EU in a few months with hardly any!

A lot of work is needed to build a road. Doing nothing and allowing time to pass delivers Brexit. If nothing is done Brexit is delivered on October 31st. Additional work is needed to delay or stop Brexit.

Things need to be done in the right order, first we have to let some out-of-touch nutters choose between the totally untrustworthy buffoon and the bloke who believes in homeopathy and wants to bring back dog fighting for posh people.

Be patient.

So the exigencies necessary to build a connecting section of road on the outskirts of such a presumably 'major' English town such as Stafford... are such that they make the nullifying of such a 'minor' International Treaty as the United Kingdom's Membership of the European Union, not only comparable, but in some ways subsidiary?

I must admit, i had not thought of it like that.

But then that is because i am not, yet, completely and utterly insane. Believe me, the potential is there.

Are you not at least a little bit concerned that thinking like that might mean that you genuinely are?

Like completely?

Like WTF is going on? Where have these people all of a sudden come from?

I guess it depends what sort of brexit you want. Doing nothing will be an interesting one, as it will mean a hard border being erected by the EU across NI and stricter checks on all travel. Doing nothing means we let the EU decide how to deal with everything, it is the absolute opposite of taking back control. Only be actually having discussions can we hope to avoid the clusterfudge that no deal could become.

So the outgoing PM cautions her successor about avoiding the Winners & Losers style of government, ie:-

Left & Right
Good & Bad
Us & Them
Blues & Reds
Old & Young
Rich & Poor
Black & White
Gay & Straight
North & South
Right & Wrong
East & West
Rangers & Celtic

The '16 Referendum created a division amongst the population and her tenure has only accentuated the rift....

The Straits of Hormuz which I have frequented many times in war and peace. Apparently nothing has changed in 30 years (and more.)

Brexit which has pissed me off for 3 years (and more.) Apparently nothing has changed.

I'm starting to wonder where's a f****** big incoming asteroid when you need one ?

I rather like the idea that the PC mindset of the last decade has lead to the problems we currently face -

Why?

Is the fact that you've had to hide your otherwise blatant racism under a skein of general decency been such a burden to you that we should somehow now cut you some slack?

Why?

Is it somehow an imposition upon you to make you accept that other people are just human beings and not some sort of untermensch?

Why?

Why is it so hard for you?

You do realise that you are ultimately an immigrant too, yes?

If the anthropologists are right we are indeed all immigrants. I'm technically half Irish, quarter Welsh, quarter English (whatever the f*** any of that means.):?:

Watching Trump's recent version of the Nuremburg Rallies with the 'Send her back' chanting suggests we are sliding inexorably towards war.

Still as a student of history, there's nothing new in that. Old George Santayana got it in one.

I know that the Christmas truce on here has lasted well into the New Year and all is sweetness and light between forumites but it may be time to put back on the tin hats and return to the trenches.
I suspect that many people find the EU discussion dull as ditch water but others hold strong opinions.
I'll kick it off by saying that this is a once in lifetime chance to regain the destiny of our country.
