I saw someone on Twitter, I think, claiming to have set up a legal limited company for about eight quid and named her parents as co-directors...
I hope that person is self isolating for 14 days prior to seeing them...
The absolute joke is that if you really worked with them you'd be expected to meet them with no isolation.
I would hope that it's essentially merely pointing out the inconsistencies in the policy.

Anyway, this is it, or a similar one.

No breakdown of where the Covid hotspots are in the county

Varies on an almost daily basis. Current hotspots around us seem to be Womborne, Swindon & Seisdon; Heathtown; Cheslyn Hay; Burntwood; Great Haywood & Weston; Stone Town; parts of Stoke; parts of Newcastle. Also higher than most of the county are Armitage & Colton; Littleworth & Hopton; Rowley & Derrington; Gnosall & Haughton.

Ok so the Santa drive through event is in Wrexham so it turn out it would be illegal to drive into Wales, the lovely company are refusing refunds and it seems transfers to what is probably 2/3rds of its customer base. Even tried to donate them to a community charity my auntie in Newtown works for and apparently it’s against their. T&Cs

We had the enchanted woodland walk booked at Weston Park which yesterday opted to cancel and refund all bookings and close for the rest of the year.

pinning all hope on the Churnet Valley Santa Express on the 23rd December but had an email this morning to say that one is also out the window.

Does anyone know of anything Christmassy running that’s safe and covid secure?

How will they know you transferred them? Can't they pretend to be you?

I'm with @littleme on this one. We have a huge light at the end of a not too long tunnel. Stay safe and ride out the next few months, and look forward to a much better Spring.

In the meantime find new (or even old) things to do in this different world we live in. Once you've embraced lockdown world, rather than treating it as some sort of evil, it becomes a much easier world to live in. Think of it a bit like if you'd travelled to somewhere like Mars; yes, there are lots of restrictions, but there's also a whole new world to explore.

Oh, and a final thought, 12 months under 'house arrest' is far better than 'dead'.

Roll on next christmas

This year is already over in my eyes, not feeling the "christmas spirit" at all, not siure how you can after this year- i'm just a mardy old git, but there's nothing to celebrate as such- being alive I suppose??

I'm just looking forward to the future after we get through this rubbish period

It's certainly made life a lot more simple. I guess I'm lucky, no kids, can WFH, etc., but I can't say I've not enjoyed this year. There's some stuff I've missed but it should mean parts of my life will be less hectic in the future, and there's no way that would have changed unless it was forced.

Staying at home & observing tier 3 rules?

I’m asking for safe and covid secure things, tier 3 could be lifted by the middle of December.

I’m not looking to break the rules, we could easily have risked using the drive through tickets but we’re not because we’re complying with restrictions.

The light at the end of the tunnel will dim as soon as everyone start meeting in droves over Christmas week. I’d much rather have has a slight relax over a period of time than a full blown ‘two fingers up/we’re invincible/sod it. It’s Christmas’

We were looking forward to a relaxed, just us Christmas without having to offend anyone, usually we host everyone that will fit through the door, and now once again people are expecting invites, the bubbling thing means picking one side of the family over the other, hubby lost his dad in January so would want to spend it with his side. But they’re a big family and it would mean not seeing mine and my parents only have us, which would be one thing if it were the rules but much harder if it’s a choice we have to make.

I’m annoyed that the virus is spreading because people weren’t following the rules, or bending the rules or going out of their way to not be a ‘sheep’ and now after spending a lot of time and money trying to plan some fun and normality on the run up to Christmas I’ve got to let my kids down again. Yes it’s not the end of the world and they’ll get over it, in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t matter that much but right now, this morning, it matters a little to me.

On a brighter note we have two Christmas movies booked at the Sandon Hall big drive in and in the process of organising a wreath making via zoom with some friends! We also know of a village not to far away that are doing a spectacular village light up display (to rival what Houghton usually do) and if we’re out of tier 3 we will be heading over for a walk around.
