Alas there are all too many similarities between the demise of the Weimar Republic and the current situation in the UK

Watched the second part of the BBC's Rise of the Nazis last night. It's like watching some event happening in a parallel universe !! What's worrying is we might be one of the parallels.

In the first episode he secured the chancellorship, in last nights episode he secured the state, and in the third episode I suspect he will secure his own party .. (getting rid of the malcontents.)

    Sound familiar ?

Just cashed-out my bet that there wouldn't be an election in November, for a small profit.

That's not to say there won't be; just that odds that there will be are longer now than when I placed the bet.

December is now the (roughly) evens favourite.

I put £10 on a bet that the Sun would go supernova before Christmas. They gave me odds of a billion to one !! I mean ? you can't pass up odds like that !!

So, when did you realise that our sun isn't large enough to go supernova? Now Betelgeuse, well that's another matter, and it's right on our doorstep.

    Betelgeuse, Betelgeuse..................Betelgeuse:

The S*n going supernova would do wonders for the intelligence of the British population.

    It wouldn't bother me …. I'd be a mult-billionaire … (for about 8 minutes.) :heyhey:

(Personally I'd put my money on Eta Carinae to pop before Betelgeuse. But I'm no gambler. :urgh:)

But if it was the damp squib Murdoch rag newspaper, what's the betting a vast eerie voice would echo out of the depths of space: "GOTCHA." :shifty:

What comes first - a General Election or a(third)nother Referendum?

Is Cummings a chicken or an egg?
