First contact has been made. Will let you know what response i get.
Re the funding, I wonder if this helps. There is a large sign on the gate to the Hixon fitness trail & childrens playground, it says ....."Opened for free public use in May 2011 Total cost of the project was £37,842 and was funded by Hixon Parish Council with a grant of £28,105 from Staffordshire Environmental Fund". So, maybe the Staffordshire Environmental fund is the way to go, or one of those National Lottery Grants? The intention is to include some pieces at the Meadow Road park - if funding can be attained. Sorry, only got a response yesterday and forgot.
I may embark on a new course of action, will try and remember to keep peeps informed.
I had thought about contacting Tesco and/or Sainsbury's to see if they might want to put up some money for putting them in Victoria Park - community goodwill gesture and all that - but will look into the Environmental fund whatsit as well.maybe the Staffordshire Environmental fund is the way to go, or one of those National Lottery Grants?
I think the cost at Hixon included all 9 pieces of adult gym equipment (this is a LOT of adult equipment, other places I have been to had only 4 at the most), the childrens playground (4 swings, climbing frame and slide, and a seesaw) plus there is a basketball court and some benches. ....Does anyone in Hixon know if all of these things were included in the £37,000? It seems to read that way on the notice.hopefully to include some outdoor gym stuff. However, if the lot at Hixon cost £37 grand i doubt they'll have much in the pot for then.
Still are - pull-up bars and the like - albeit a bit tatty now.Didn't their used to be some outdoor gym stuff at what is now known as Wildwood Park?
Another one! Im getting quite jealous of all our surrounding villages & their super gym equipment...will investigate soon, thanks for the infoWe were up in Haughton at the weekend and we took the little one down the park and guess what, they have a gym there! Also a terrible looking half-pipe.
The one in Hixon is on the main rd, directly opposite the church....sorry I can't remember the name of the rdHi all new in the area and i was looking for an out door gym
