It would seem that it is important to read the inspection report and not just use the star rating as a guide. I looked up peony garden which we usually use and thought it looked a bit iffy from the report - 2 stars, then looked up marble house which we don't use any more (mostly due to poor service - an hour to get your order when collecting!) and they had two stars too but their report was FAR worse. glad we don't use them any more.

Might just spend the next few hours looking places up! oh dear! might not want my lunch!

How often are the inspections done? because obviously if the advice given within the reports is followed then all places should be up to scratch now... It would be interesting to see what the previous inspection reports said to see how well some places follow up on advice.

Bella Italia got a bit of a slating, though mostly for faulty lights which doesn't strike me as important as general food hygene in a restaurant. Pizza express did really well - repaint a stained ceiling and replace some cracked tiles - that was all.

Pastiche didn't do too well either - mould in the ice machine!

have to say - when I found this website - I spent all night looking up various places that I use - luckily my friendly chinese takeaway - Mandarin House - was good - although I wont be in a hurry to use Dilshads.

I agree with Vault_girl you do need to read the report as well, as they may have points for minor things -

Wow! That's quite a damning report!

Just checked the sandwich shop which I visit daily - Von's in Eccleshall.

Glad to see the report was very good. Personally, I'd recommend this shop to anyone - especially if you have a big appetite, have a flyer, they're immense!

It blummin' is, especially considering it says towards the end of the report "It must be borne in mind that this inspection was by appointment."

Dear God, I think that's the worst one I've seen by some way. They knew he was coming, and he still found that almost everything in the kitchen needed a thorough clean! I know some people who used to work there - I'll have to mention that one...

I'm not sure I want to really, I have never been ill from eating out (that I'm aware of) (cue a dirty comment from DB or Gramaisc) (cue misuse of brackets comment from andreas), and love the food from the places I get takeaway from. What you don't know can't hurt you etc.

Viva denial.

This is interesting reading indeed. But I had my inspection last Dec and it's not showing up, do I have to add it?
Very pleased to say we got 4* and only lost the final one because our kitchen needs renovating...sadly the NHS Trust won't fund it and we're not in a position to right now.

The sad thing it was my appointment - these places do not care - as long as you eat what they give you .. pair for it and go - They need to get there acts together.

Its these sorts of places that make people ill :barf:

Nishads, in Mill Bank, was visited by health inspectors at the end of September - who found food being stored outside the premises.

Chefs had also stored raw meat alongside cooked meat and a faulty hot water tap was found in the kitchen.
food must not be stored directly on the floor in the kitchen

don't mention the blinds
Seems that when the EHO turn up at any site the proprieter can say that it's 'private property, please make an appointment' and they'll be shown around the premises at a later date, The big players in the high street are fully aware of this............
