Alternative Vote, How Will You Vote?

FTPT would have got us David Davies - AV gave us David Cameron - no recommendation is hereby implied...

I think that they should have given us a choice of various voting systems and then chosen the winner based on the one that would have won if it had been the system that was applied to the voting for itself - the most..

FPTP got us Thatcher and Blair!!!!!!!1111

Although strangely not Brown or Mandelscum, who just sort of turned up and interfered without bothering the pesky voters.

Best way to.spoil.a vote and have it recorded?
John is that a question or a cryptic clue I have missed?
I believe that he is asking for suggestions - the winner to be be selected by some sort of (un)popular vote..

I don't think it really matters, next election we're going to end up with a labour government or sorts again anyway, the retarded electorate will see to that regardless of the polling system used.

How did the Conservative Party elected its leader?...
A transferable vote system taking place for MPs only over multiple entirely independant rounds where new votes are taken for each. The bottom person is removed each round, and then everyone is asked to vote again. This happens until 2 people are left, and only then are the peons (i.e. party members) allowed to vote in a FPTP ballot. Of course a FPTP ballot is entirely correct at this stage, as there are only 2 candidates.

Essentially the MP section is like a better version of AV as they can change votes each round should they want to. No idea why they would though!

I think the Labour hatred may well ensure that under AV the conservatives would pick up a lot of extra votes. Under FPTP though all the LDs votes will instead be discarded ;)

So in the run up to this referendum and local elections we have finally had some differences between the coalition partners.
Immigration, the huge issue of interns (where did that come from) and of course the AV itself.
The question is...is this split for real or is it just to ensure grass root votes until after the election when they can be bosom buddies again.

I'm still voting NO.
I don't think AV achieves the aim of more democratic representation
It is not a simple system
It's really not wanted by any of the parties..not even the Lib Dems to quote a well-worn phrase - it is a 'miserable little compromise.'

I suspect not from Cleggs side, this will destroy the LDs and ensure no chance or even a coalition for decades I suspect.

*** It's really not wanted by any of the parties..not even the Lib Dems to quote a well-worn phrase - it is a 'miserable little compromise.'
* I do, it removes the tactical voting aspect where people are forced to vote X to keep Y out.

** It is, you rank the candidates you like 1-X and ignore the rest. Its remarkably simple, my GFs five year old understands how to order things in to how much you like them.

*** I agree, but this miserable little compromise is the only thing the two controlling parties would allow. Neither want full PR, it would destroy their geographical advantages and put them on a level playing field country-wide. It is though, I belive, the only chance at any vote reform we will get in our lifetimes. Labour nor Conservative will ever push this through if they are in power, because they know FPTP keeps them in power. On that basis alone I'll vote yes, as I cannot see any way it is worse than FPTP.

Its ironic that its the AV system that all the major parties use to elect leaders.
My view is that if its good enough for the patricians, then its surely good enough for us plebs.
