In a week when i have, actually and bona fida-ly, talked my arse off, i am honoured that my (so-called) on-line life should so gracefully collide.

It's been a gas.

Good grief, 150,000 posts really is quite a hefty amount of nonsense... Erm, I mean 'content'!

Congratulations, all. Long may your banter reign! :D

I see we have fair shot past the 2,000 members (snigger) mark - we were creeping towards it for what seemed like an age, now we're there with another 100+ to boot.

The Stafford FM effect one suspects.

More likely proto-spammers.

We've had about 200 of them in the last two days, by my reckoning. Admin's hammer shall be wielded soon, I suspect...

..and the 2,000 target will be available once again.

Possibly some sort of syllabic generator. Some of the names occur in other Forums, also - always registering in the last few days and not posting there, either.

I will confess that when ddaavviidd30 posted, I expected it to be spam, but I see where he's coming from now...

I did read a post from a new member this morning which seemed to consist of random words thrown at a keyboard. I'm on some heavy duty migraine medication at the moment and feel a bit out of it. I read it three times before I decided that it definitely wasn't me. It didn't contain any links, though. So I don't understand what is in it for the spammer, unless they just want to mess with our heads. In which case, I hope they can leave me with one that doesn't hurt.

There have been just the three spam posts in the last two days - two yesterday and the one this morning. The two yesterday were the more normal type, one was for anti-biotics and I forget the other one. This morning's was a bit odd, I'll agree..
unless they just want to mess with our heads.
Please don't confuse them with our own Mr Marwood.

Some of those can be strangely poetic, in a prose-poem kind of way. I have long suspected they arise from throwing words that once were distantly connected through various 'translate this guff' type applications.

Sometimes, though admittedly not that often, you feel like you have lost something of beauty when the ban-hammer of justice is wielded and they disappear. Not when they're hurting ya noggin, mind.

One that I wish had been kept was the chap advertising his sunglasses and repeatedly urging us to 'abrade them at every opportunity'. It took me quite a while to realise that he had translated his own language into English and, instead of using the word 'wear' he had chosen to use 'abrade' because it was at the top of the list of possibilities, or it just looked more technical...

I was wondering just the other day whether Mr. AA Silencers had chosen the name for his business on such a Yellow Pages based ticket.
Stafford used to boast an A J Leak - whose business was fixing car radiators* - and it was his real name.

*back when you still could.

just to be clear, that's the 3000th thread in the Stafford Chat sub-forum.. according to the front page stats, there are 13,472 discussions (threads) in total :lorks:

(i know that's what you meant - i was just clarifying, because when i read it first time i thought you meant it was the 3000th thread full stop, which i thought was a little on the low side)
