Another Pile of Bricks

I have six such inmates in a secure location on the Stone Road. It's not my property, but I am getting slowly better at selecting them - much less trouble this year than in previous ones. If you do get involved, my advice is to get the sort who actually have work to do and a genuine goal - these ones are nurses - second best would be the film types - the worst ones have been Computer Games Designers and Sports Scientists. It's not a large survey, but the results have been quite consistent so far.

Some of the scholars live in the RAF quarters on Trenchard Avenue. But I believe the lease isn't being renewed on these properties.

Nurses were the noisiest lot I ever had to put up with. Non-stop party time, for the whole time they were there.

Nurses are indeed noisy, as I know to my cost, but the inmate nurses do seem cause me fewer problems than the previous sorts did, but then I do live most of a mile away! Three years ago the computery types had a noise abatement notice, although they never knew as I found it unopened in the debris after they left.

As this started with a mention of bricks i was informed a long time ago that the hardest brick was the 'staffordshire blue' is this the same brick that has been used to construct the w'ton rd the newport rd and the castle works bridges. The newport rd bridge by the way looks to be in need of some serious remedial work.....

Be careful if Googling 'Staffordshire blue', as you might find that some of the suggestions involve images of bull terriers in erotic poses.

I did and found that the 'blue' as i now fondly call it is also available perforated. i do so hope that the newport rd bridge when refurbished uses the 'blue'.....

There is a cartoon, that i think was published in the Express & Star, that satirises the proposed archaeological excavations at Stafford Castle in the late 70's.

It drew upon the contemporary exhibition in the Tate of the 'Pile of Bricks' that was -

- and probably still is, Equivalent VIII.

It doesn't appear to have been archived properly, so i shall rectify that as soon as is practicable.

Oooh memories. Spent many a happy night in the very late 60's at the nurses' accommodation at SGI. Roughly where Wickes is now.
