Grrr, electrickery went off about 1/2 hour ago. Clever text service allows for fault checking according to postcode which returns

Fault @ etc : The name of the local electricity substation where the power cut has taken place
Customers affected : The number of affected customers
Estimated time power on : Estimated time of restoration

my response was

Customers affected : 1
Estimated time power on : unavailable

Cheers e-on!

Sandon Road is still on. Have a look at your streetlights and the neighbours. I presume you've checked your consumer unit?

Battery at 6%, oh well, early night for me.

Should have ventured up the road. We had a gallon of free beer available due to making a better assessment of the seating capacity of Craven Cottage in the tie-break. More fun than watching your battery percentage drop....

Our power at work just dropped considerably, according to the fluke thingy it was sitting at under 100v for a few seconds. phucket my server up (typical - between UPS's). I'm out in Eccleshall though.

I once had a mere 80 volts for nearly three hours. They denied that it was possible when I rang them. Incandescent bulbs gave the merest glow and fluorescent ones wouldn't strike, although they would remain lit if they weren't turned off. Starting motors against a load, e.g. fridge compressers, is the big risk issue in a persistant under-voltage situation.

If he'd actually worked out who I was then yes, but I'm guessing he missed the clues...
