Anyone on Facebook?

Hey, I discovered facebook.com the other day and I must say it's actually very good. Think myspace, but without the random layouts, annoying songs playing in the background and many, many emos.

It's basically a really neat looking social site with all sorts of cool features. Anyhow, I have created a *Stafford* group found here - http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2257269958

So if anyone is already on facebook or if you sign up a new account, send me a message and I'll invite you to the 'hit and happening' (that's right) Stafford group! :)

Oh yes, sorry Mr/Mrs/Miss/Sir/Ms/Lord Ninja who shall not be named, that's the first and second rule of this forum isn't it? :)

Luckily it seems the admin has sorted out my post now, no one will ever know your identity...

I hope the forum police don't come after me! :cops: :shifty: :cops:

a "social networking" site without emos?! surely not?? lol..

looks like there already is a stafford group, and it has 520 members! shame about the shitty name, though

edit: no emos, eh? i just clicked into the member list for the above group, and the first thing i see is:

every single person in this stafford group (not taitou's, the other one) seems to be at sheffield ruddy uni lol.. what on earth is it that makes people from the Ford come up here??

edit: on closer inspection, it looks like people are listed in the order in which they joined the group, as the details (ages/universities/etc.) seem to follow trends..

Aaah yes, the Emo. A strange breed, it seems like they spread to every social networking site eventually, there surely is no escape :(

Whilst we're on the topic though, who is our resident smiley creator on this forum? I'd love to see an EMOticon... :D

:tumbleweed:

I'm here all week!

Haha, just found that :emo: one too, there's a good list of loads of emoticons here - http://www.sketchyorigins.com/comics/misc.php?do=showsmilies (probably where you found that one) It could do with having black hair over one eye though :)

no, i've never seen that link, but they are robbing smilies from the same place i am so it wouldn't surprise me if all ours are there as well lol..

I think with Facebook it's just that the emos are less bothersome! It's quite private i.e. you don't get bombarded with friend requests from people you don't know (as much) and only people in your networks can see your profile. There's less scope to be annoying!

oh no, i'm getting drawn into this facebook nonsense now lol.. i'm such an internet zealot!

i hate the way you can't search by name or e-mail, like you can on myspace, though.. the only way it lets you do it (that i can find) is by interrogating your hotmail/e-mail address book, and i can't be arrised with that shiz..

You can search by name, but the only way to avoid trawling through lots of people with the same name is by knowing the surname as well. I find the search function much better than that on myspace, though I agree it occasionally would be handy to be able to search by email address.

I F*CKING HATE EMO'S!!!
They go on about how they hate living, and just want to die...go on about how no one else feels the pain they do...spend 5 hrs every morning doing their make up and hair...go on about how they're all "unique" and anyone that ISN'T an "Emo" is sad and a bloody lemming... :grr:

You know what? ALL YOU F*CKING EMO'S CAN KISS MY HAIRY :bum:

:twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted:

Plus the one thing i hate the MOST about MySpace...is it gives total dumbasses who know bugger all about HCI principles etc, the power to make "cool" web pages....god I'm on a rant today aren't I :P

I disagree, that's like saying it's annoying that people who don't know anything about cooking can make a 'cordon bleu' meal by simply following a recipe!

True, true.. Stumbling on some myspace websites is like going back in internet-time.. Music automatically playing as soon as the page loads, backgrounds that distract from the content, bad layout, bad design, impossible to read.. yeah I'm not a fan of myspace either.. :grr:
