How the hell does me commenting on a kids tv show blowing up caravans have anything to do with insulting the way others live etc??
Your way off the mark again Lunar.
I just think it's mad that a kids show blows up caravans and that's about all I said.
My parents recently bought a mobile home on the coast and i think it's a gorgeous place to live in.... however that doesn't mean i have no right to find someone allowing their old van to be blown up if they've recently upgraded to a new one or decided they no longer want to keep it... ammusing.

The only person in this thread who has mentioned anything about people's way of living / rights / lifestyles etc. is you

I rarely get blunt and certainly don't intend to cause offence, but quote people on the facts of what they have commented on, and not on your assumptions of what you THINK they are (incorrectly) getting at.

Quote: improve my house by employing someone to throw a bomb through the letterbox. SO YOU'VE SEEN WHERE I LIVE THEN ;) (and even if you had I wouldn't be offended. It needs more than just a lick of paint and i'm the first to admit it. lol)
This is the key (i.e. not the only) statement that prompted my response:

The only good caravan is one that's been blown up amusingly.
I'm not sure how else I could have interpreted it, and I don't tend to find things that have been blown up amusing (although I must admit I did rather enjoy the last scene of 'V for Vendetta', but that was more an appreciation of the symbolism than the destructive act itself).

I would have imagined it was quite obvious that comment was made in jest.
I have imagined a lot of things that don't translate into real life - I'm sure that you will find many examples in my posts on here...

its horse fair season so a lot of the travelling community are on the move at the mo.

i remember when there was a camp on brunswick terrace when the derelict meb was still standing- there were a real danger to road users, left a disgusting mess in their wake and were generally obnoxiuous to the general population of the street.

I seem to remember a problem up Silmore Lane area too, about 15 years ago. Again generally obnoxious to all and sundry and the place was trashed when they left. Can't see why I'd give a damn if the land owner was happy with them staying and they didn't cause a problem. I'm sure most are fine, but it will always be the arseholes you remember.

it's interesting to note that, after two pages, no-one had answered your question, and rather this had descended into a conversation about gypsies: good vs. bad.. it's also interesting to note that this debate was not started by the perceived "anti-gypsy" element, but rather the "pro-gypsy" contingent jumping to conclusions and assuming there was ill intent in the OP :raise:

Surely they are the indigenous population of that area.......
Whooh.......which fantastic area of Stafford do you live in or are you atypical of a pretentious snob indigenous to many areas of Stafford?

I thought Doxey was originally all temporary housing? Was a bit young to remember admittedly, but is that what he was referring to?

No it was actually a nice little village before WWII the temporary housing came later only to be knocked down to have a new estate built at the back of Doxey. When you drive through Doxey, what you see is primarily privately owned Edwardian houses with huge gardens with people living in relative contentment with the exception of prevailing attitiudes and ignorance from certain people from Stafford. Mind you, getting sick of filling the holes in from the stray bullets on the exterior wall - NOT!
