Just gotten around to catching up with this thread. I was in my local Sainsbury's on Christmas Eve, having a nose for anything they were selling off. I had just bagged a lovely big turkey crown from the Aldi sale for £4, I've a feeling that the closer to 4pm it got the cheaper they were going to be though. I was a bit shocked although not really surprised that all of Sainsbury's turkeys were still full price and they were the big £60+ ones. Hopefully they were sold or reduced and sold in the end. Would have been a terrible waste else.

Was quite shocked when in M&S the other night to see a woman chucking everything reduced into a trolley. She said it was all for the bin, yet had only been reduced by about 20% at most. If it had been 50% or lower I'd have considered buying a few things for the freezer, but at nearly full price it wasn't worth bothering. Would rather pay full price and have something I can leave in the fridge for a few days and decide when I fancy it.

Maybe M&S think big reductions cheapen their look or something? Must have been £100 worth of stuff getting binned at least.

M&S, both the store in town and the company as a whole, is a lesson in mismanagement at every level.

Today, I got a Silva type 4/54 for a mere £2:50 from Save the Children - normally around thirty quid, I suspect.

Got myself a wooden fire surround from Furniture Exchange the other week £10 for quick sale...

Naturally I bargained it down to £8, well chuffed!

Used my £5 ex-display Black and Decker mouse to sand down said fireplace!

Then got some Colron wax stain from Homebase - was £14.99....

I got it priced matched to Wilcos at £9.95 then a further 15% off as tills automatically took it off for promo weekend!

Yay!

Well, I was going to tell you all that Asda have bags of Mushroom Risotto in their frozen vegetarian range for 25p - Bargain!

Only I've just eaten one (risotto, not the bag) & it doesn't have all that much flavour....

....so, if you want some goopy mushroom rice that leaves a strange copper after taste in your mouth - head off to Asda, still a great lunch bargain at 25p but you'll probably have to spend £3 on adding things to make it taste nice!

Was in on my lunch break, they seem to be clearing loads of stuff. Curried lamb pies £1 down from £3, mediteranian veg pizzas for 75p, mushroom wellingtons for 75p, there was a sign for fish pies at 50p down from £3 as well but they'd all been taken.

Sears corned beef is 72p a tin in tesco, none on the shelf but loads above waiting to be put out. 75% off reduced to clear, says chunky but it really isn't. Apparently tastes good though.

I am just sitting down to eat tuna steak chunks in black pepper breadcrumbs with spinach and Gorgonzola risotto and pan fried garlic mushrooms. Allegedly enough to feed 2 and I paid under £3 for the lot, less than 1kg in total though so I'll eat it myself ;)
