Visited for a quiet lunchtime o'booze today, witnessed some old geezer who clearly had his grub go down the wrong way suffer with the consequences. (manic hiccups, thumping on chest kind of thing) In true 'Leave' fashion everyone ignored the poor fella and left it to yours truly to offer assistance, not that i'm medically qualified. .....

There are now 9 real ales and 4 real ciders on offer and a beer TV in the lounge.

Was the Bird In Hand ever a tied house? For some reason I remember Banks. I vaguely recall knowing a former landlord. (Through family).

My main memory is that they had the videogame Joust in about 83/84.

That's likely the time I recall. 83-86 ish I guess.

Ah the ruination of that song (not "Vienna" upon checking by Ultravox.

Sipping Courage from a crystal cup. Sorry I prefer Bass.

Looking like it will be open again tomorrow from noon, but with no carvery available and just the lounge, bar and snug in use - 'normal' menu will be in operation, though.

All back in operation again apart from the disabled toilet where the fire started.

Apparently the wankstain at the Shrew thinks this is appropriate and "funny" after the fire at the Bird.

What an arsewipe!!! People could have been injured or killed FFS.

Jealousy, his pub is twice the size with half the customers. Obviously I thought he was a twat before this, but it reinforces my POV!

I haven't been in the Shrew in its Black Country Ales incarnation, so can't comment on the wankstaininess or otherwise of the current management but, given that it takes at least a few days to settle and tap a keg of ale, is this not more likely to be a coincidence than anything else?
