I heard mutterings that it was moving into the old Daihatsu garage to the right of the Sandonia...must be there.

edit: ..or was it Hyundai? Either way, in what used to be Sandon Road Motors.

It is. The old Sandon Road Motors building. It's been there for about ten days, I think. I'm just going down to have a look. I'll report later. Over and out.

I used to love going to Browse with me folks when I was a kid...some great old and interesting furniture, and loads of other nick nacks. There's an antiques shop next door to the Chindmill Whipshop round the corner from me (opposite Essence of the Orient)....I could spend a couple of hours looking through the various paraphernalia.

i used to love going to browse too.

i bought a few odds and ends for myself over the years and my lovely 20's bedroom furniture came from there.

i shall be making a beeline when im home in a couple of weeks. Rex, if ive got wheels and youre free, shall we have an afternoon out?

What i do like is that they replaced 1 type of antique for another on the old browse site. Old furniture for old people. The smell has changed from french polish to piss and biscuits.

Wow, I didn't know I would get this much response, thought I was the only one that had missed the place these past years!

not at all! thanks for the info.

ill be letting the folks know too. now mum doesnt work up that way, the folks probably dont know about it either.

i just hope they can carry on in the current financial climate, they must be either very sure of themselves to re-open now, or have had no way to postpone opening.

I have returned from my recconnaisance mission. It is fairly similar to the previous incarnation. Mostly wooden furniture of various ages and styles, with some smaller compatible items filling up the spaces. It's been there two weeks already, apparently. At the moment they are just using the part that was the car showroom, but they do intend to expand upstairs and out the back. It's worth a look as it stands, though. A large part of the car-parking area is under cover, which could be useful when loading up during inclement weather. They are currently undergoing a staffing problem due to illness, but there'll be somebody there to take your money.
