Stafford is such a small town that anyone who moans about traffic should stop and think before they do so
lol you've changed your tune!
:?: eh, how is that changing my tune.... =)

The post you link to is me moaning about how sh*te traffic is in Stafford....and asking for ideas on how to improve public transport.

I realised though that me moaning about it wouldn't fix it so I decided to take positive action and get on my bike (which is now possible as I now work in Stafford). I even said about that at the end of the second post... =)

the thread topic is "Planning and traffic in Stafford.... terrible?", which i would say is a "moan about traffic" - i.e. exactly what you said people "should stop and think before they do"! lol..

don't worry, i'm only being an arse lol..

£1.50 from coton fields to town... what a joke!!

I agree that it's cheaper than petrol, tyres etc. But let's face it I thought the government were supposed to be encouraging people to use public transport!! They ought to subsidise it and make it bloody free (or close to it). If they did, then you can bet your life that 50% of the cars on the road would suddenly vanish, fumes would be reduced, and the planet wouldn't eventually be flooded by the melting ice caps...........

now let's be realistic. don't you think that will happen at some point in time anyway?? For all we know it could be part of life's cycle that HAS to happen in order for the planet to continue existence.

Arriva... you better get putting on some boat services for when it does!!!!!!! :)

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think the majority of people (myself included) would not use public transport even if it was free..

I think that something should be done to reclaim some of the huge profits made by private bus companies, and put that money in the pockets of people who need it most.

Remember when Midland Red had a scrap with County Bus?!? Was great for the child commuter, unless you couldn't write your own ticket. Buses that looked like they'd just been pulled from the knackers' yard, but they were on time, and there was no advert on the back of the ticket to tempt you into having a...

You weren't the only one. poetsbumcheeks had mangled the link somehow, which seemed to be breaking the thread! All fixed now :)

I think bus prices are too expensive - we pay 5.40 - for 2 kids and 2 adults - one way from Parkside to town - crazy prices. We very rarely use the bus - usually only when the Christmas lights are switched on x

Just got the bus into work because of the rain, not used one in ages. Cost £1.70 for a single from the Stone road near Holmcroft to Chell road. Still only got in 5 minutes earlier than if I walked. Sorry, but thats absolute ******! People moan about needing a better public transport network, but if they charge these prices they wont be used. Only costs about 4 quid in a taxi, that takes you door to door at the time you want.

I cycle as much as possible. Buses are slow and there's no bus lanes, so the buses get caught up in the traffic.

Traffic in Stafford is bad and there's only two ways to fix the traffic (I don't think there's any room for more road), car share or ration your use of the car (take yourself out of the traffic).

Getting from Wildwood/Baswich into town is dead easy, not to mention you can park your bike in the town centre.

Would recommend a moped or small scooter for commuting, cheap as chips and, for the less fit among us, handy for shopping trips slightly further afield. Loads of free parking in town too!

What would help is if people learned to drive properly, for example not sitting in yellow boxes, over crossings running red lights, cutting up other people on roundabouts and, my pet hate, women (sorry ladies, but it's ALWAYS a woman) dilly dallying about in the car whilst waiting for the lights in the right lane coming out of asda car park. The lights generally let 3 - 4 cars through at a time - if you're in position 2 then it's reasonable to expect that you will get through without having to beep the car in front only for her to stall and then everyone misses the lights. Bravo.
