And our wonderful government want people to get out of their cars and use public transport.
With the rise it now costs £1.30 to get to town from Burton Square n vise versa. Blumin ridiculous.

And how much does it cost to run your car into town, petrol, tyres, road tax etc. and then you have to pay to park it. The congestion going into town, which would be enormously reduced if you went by bus. Lastly, if more people used public transport it would bring down the costs. All in all..........

Reasonable, eh?

but if the costs were lower more people would use the service (and NO MEANING TO OFFEND) was relable more people would but its neither so they dont, driving to town is a conveniance, (unless you live along the newport road) its much quicker and some people cant be bothered to wait ages for a bus.... also it will cost you 30p-50p depending on what you drive to get to town max from petrol

I hae disliked public transport in all its forms all my life.

Living on the Wirral a while back, there was a brilliant rail network, got you anywhere easy...

Moving to Stafford was wonderful, because no matter where you were, you could be anywher within a 40 minute walk...

So these days, I live close to town, roughly 4 minutes from the bar in wetherspoons, with others closer....

But I still love my car!

innit.. and i think we were still trying to blag "half" returns until we were about 17 lol..

i hate public transport.. i wouldn't use it even if the government subsidised it so much that they paid me every time i got onboard lol..

I suggest that you go to the bus garage and get up to date timetables. I personally am very rarely late but then again I do mostly out of town routes. I do the odd Wildwood and Brocton routes.

Most buses are late due to the congestion caused by cars with only 1 person in it going into town.

I live and work in Stafford and I generally cycle, it's better for the environment and I keep fit at the same time

Let's face it Stafford isn't a very big town Get on yer bikes!

Always walk, don't even have a driving license. When the kids are at school though its quicker for me to walk the full length of the weston road to work than it is to get the bus, there's just so much traffic. When I was a lad we had to walk to school FFS!

I saw this the other morning.

Fantastic idea until we all get one.

Would you still have to pay "road tax"? And would you have to follow the "Highway Code"

The last time I got on a bus it was a day ticket for £1, unfortunately I lived in Binyon court (right sh*t hole) and my family lived in Coton Fields. It was not so bad walking there in the day but a hell of a walk late at night. I hate paying extortionate prices for anything. I walk everywhere unless I have to drive. If I'm out for a bevvy I will walk there and back. Bit of an effort on the way back, (it's not the length of the road it's the width). I'm definately a scrooge as far as public transport is concerned though.

I remember as a kid that a fare from Doxey to the Windmill was 24p for me Mum, 12p for me. Doxey was even blessed with a double decker bus at times!

In fact, we used to have a solid brick bus shelter along Conway Road, with a felted and tarmac roof, until it was removed practically over night with hardly a piece of rubble left to be seen in its place.

£1.50 from my gaff into town!! Its gone up 25% in little over a year.

Elsewhere.... Arriva have put the return fare up between Lichfield and Burntwood from £2.50 to £4.40 in one go!

Also bizarre is that returns on longer journeys (like to Wolves) are dearer than buying a day ticket.

How do I get from the hospital to Wildwood on the bus? Do I have to get to town first, and from what bus stop?

Route 874 from Stafford Hospital to Cannock Hospital leaves Stafford DGH at half past the hour, and goes down the A34 past Wildwood.

It's £1.50 now. A ten pence increase this quickly? This is madness!
