can anyone recommend a decent butcher or farm shop in/near Stafford?

Where i lived previously I had a farm shop that did really good steaks/homemade burgers/hams and at better prices than supermarket...

There have been various threads on these subjects. Try the search function. John Anslow on Sandon Road comes highly recommended.

Yes, I'd highly recommend Mottersheads in Weeping Cross, their award winning sausages are great, and we've always been very pleased with all the meat we've bought from there. Lots is sourced locally and they sell other bits and pieces to accompany your meat. Well worth a try in my view!

Depends how far you are willing to travel? If you fancy a quick jaunt down to junction 11 not far from there is Essington fruit farm. They have a farm shop with a butchers and raise some of their own meat. My mum swears by it. They have a great pick your own there too. Also not far from their is the HollyBush garden center which is well worth a look around if you like that kind of thing.

Indeed. I was going to merge this thread with the following:

Best butchers in Stafford

However, I decided not to, as this thread specifically asks for Farm Shops, which I suppose is a slightly different subject. So please feel free to discuss local Farm Shops in general in this thread, not just butchers. :)

Thanks.

Great Haywood's canal shop, this place is having a re-fit to finish in August from what i was told, it'll be open during the re-fit also, i can't fault the place when it comes to border plants and some fruit and veg.

There was this thread too ???Local produce???
Good catch, Wormella. I had missed it as I merely searched for "farm".

Again, I won't merge the threads, as that one goes more into the politics and ramifications of locally sourcing produce, but it is a useful thread in the context of the original question regardless. :)

Thanks!
