i always use the automated thing at asda, but my sister swears by the tesco chaps.. i, too, worry about their treatment of the cars though, highguy.. note that this isn't based on any evidence at all; i've never heard a bad report from them..

(welcome to the forum btw, highguy :) )
I always used to use the one up by Maccy'ds as I loved the smell of the colour foam as I went through! hahaha

Can't use them at all now as I've got a car with a big spoiler on (not in a chavvy way I hasten to add!) so i have to do it myself all the time :( or go to Greyfriars... but at £7 quid a pop it's only a once a month treat or so.
how on earth does a spoiler stop you using a carwash? unless it is one of those chavvy massive ones? lol
Without giving too much away... it's probably only bolted on with 5 bolts... and is a factory fit from new...... and is most definitely not a Halfords special. haha!

actually they can cause probs...they can be ripped off depending on the style of it, or just plained scratched to shit. My old 206 Quiksilver had its scratched to bits (factory fitted...I'm not a chav/pikey/pleb), then the elements get to it and it just peels. I always found the Tesco one to be the worst, it wouldnt even go around it to clean so I'd have this weird large V shaped dirt patch at the back.

Also careful of the cleaners at Tesco, they dont always do a great job, there ok outside but inside they just pretend to clean.

Thankfully for me Screwfix now allow a valet company to come in so I pay £10 every few weeks for a damn good job...good thing too as the PT would be a bugger to clean

Glad you like the site Highguy...nice to see you here matey :)

There is a sign at the roundabout by Bristol Street Motors that says 'Hand Car Wash £3'. I know no more than that, although I presume it to be where the old Afford yard was. So you would probably have to access the site from Rowley Street itself.
