Power goes out, the shop closes, there is no option, very few small to medium retail have back up power to keep the store running these days also there is a safety/insurance aspect

You forgot about double diamond, barley wine, snowballs, cherry B, cholera, the black death, Raleigh choppers, leather casies, jumpers for goalposts, playing out all day til your mum called you in for supper and sprouts were just for Christmas not life back then 😂
Ooooh Cherry B & cider = 'Leg over' Was my favourite tipple ( with a few Pernods knocked back along with them for good affect)

Angustura bitters ( I althought it was Angus Stewart bitters) for the morning after the night before on a Sunday lunch time in the Grapes.. Supposed to have cured the hangover , but never seemed to work! Blackthorn cider , hair of the dog, worked better 😂

We was posh. If we were lucky we had chopped ham from a tin, baked beans and half a slice of bread and butter for Sunday tea.

Oh and a rabbit shaped jelly and evap if he we had visitors 🤣
We had jelly in a bowl (We weren't posh enough to afford jelly moulds) made the previous day as we didn't have a fridge , and carnation milk. With a slice of white bread with dripping from the cup of fat setting on the kitchen window sill. Yummy! And so good (not) for those arteries 😂 .

Ahhhh memories of jelly with Carnation Evaporated milk. (Around the campfire in Sherbrook Valley, ... but without the jelly ... or the milk for that matter as some daft twat had forgotten the tin-opener.)
Jelly was always rabbit shaped when i was a kid, and made with carnation, not water. (No it wasn't blamanche).

Sunday tea was high tea, Salmon (tinned) rolls with cucumber vinegar, cheese or ham sandwiches, pork pie, cheese & pinapple hedgehog, sausage rolls, randim mixed pickles and crisps, sherry trifle, fairy cakes and rabbit jelly.

Went to town today to buy new trainers (i specifically wanted skechers), sports direct are the only shop in Stafford that stock them, and not the ones I want, or at a price I want....online & cashless wins again....1/3 off the price including delivery.....and people dont understand why Staffords on its arse.

There is no longer a single dedicated shoe shop in Stafford Town.

Some of us can remember when people used to complain about how there were too many shoe shops in Stafford.

Not just Stafford, but the shoe industry probably added a couple more here, of course.

In The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe, Douglas Adams even referred to the Shoe Event Horizon.

What's a leather casie? Sounds familiar but I can't remember 🤷‍♀️
