Ate once again in here yesterday and once again it was excellent. Me and 2 friends went for breakfast and i ordered the farmhouse. It was massive and all the ingredients were tip top. Big proper porky sausages, Thick bits of toast, Lovely mushroom and some grand black pudding to boot. The others enjoyed theirs too. Then proceeded to spend the afternoon sat at the bar drinking the excellent ales and talking to the very friendly bar staff. Had a great day. Cheers Chambers.
i was going to pop in for brekkie tomorrow (friday 12th aug), but gerry here tells me that it doesn't include hash browns.. is that always the case?

i'm one of those picky buggers that chefs hate who doesn't like anything (mushrooms, tomatoes, eggs), but i love a cooked breakfast and my favourite part is the hash browns!

don't suppose there's any chance of getting some in, stormtrooperchef? even if they're just frozen ones from asda or whatev's - that's fine by me! don't get me wrong, i'm not one of these people john marwood treats with such disdain who refuses to pay more than a fiver for a meal & eats crap - i eat all home-cooked meals at home and when i go out i'm more than happy to pay proper prices for proper grub - but a hash brown is a hash brown at the end of the day, so i'm not asking for the moon on a stick :P

whatcha reckons? any chance?

A few posts under my belt
Came in today for a Carvery. 8 very happy customers left. Well done..

On another note my better half came in yesterday with our little one and still no baby change facility. She had to change him on the floor in the toilets again. I did email in a few weeks ago and was assured this would be sorted ASAP. Not good as you are advertised as a family friendly pub.

Once again, catering for your customers' needs!

I've been for food a few times of late and always had a great time. The staff are all lovely (and extremely forgiving) and the breakfasts look smashington. If only I had the appetite to warrant buying one!

edit: Oh, and I've also told plenty of people about the carvery and ALL reports have been good. Keep it up! :)

Just had another lovely meal ... the chips were divine! Wanted to try the pizzas, but no pizza bases so had a burger instead! Had the whitebait for starters and it was yummy!

Again my apologies. This should have been sorted weeks ago. I will collar the owners this week and get it sorted once and for all.

well.. i've half a mind to report chambers to the authorities for cruel & unusual punishment..

earlier today, i was subjected to a breakfast that could only be described as "brutal".. i had it at about 11:00, and i'm not joking when i say that i have only just now recovered to the point where i could bring myself to drag my bulbous form across to the computer and turn it on to post this message lol..

andreas had the foresight to take a photo of the ridonkulous plate of food that was bestowed upon us, which will no doubt make it on here before too long, but i was too busy cramming it voraciously into my pie-hole to do the same, so in lieu of his pictorial evidence i'll have to just do my best to describe it.. forgive me if i'm a bit wonky - i've still got the meat sweats..

2 enormous sausages, 4 bits of bacon, hash browns (), beans, tomato, black pudding, toast - i could have had more, but as mentioned above i'm a fussy bugger so declined eggs & such.. i can honestly say the sausages were the finest i have eaten in ages.. that's not to say the rest was "average" - far from it - but the sausages really were absolute beauties.. and all for something ridiculous like £6 - which included as much tea as i could squeeze in..

the only downside was that stormtrooperchef & his colleagues were so friendly and lovely, that we ended up chatting at the bar for a while & paid whilst stood there, which meant we left without thinking to leave a tip! which was criminal, given.. well.. everything - the service, the food, the banter, the decor, the facilities.. i really hope i can make it a weekly thing, at the very least :)

oh and, putting my "sexist" hat on for a minute*, they clearly have a "no uggo" policy when it comes to hiring staff :teef:

* "do you ever take it off?? :keke: lulz" etc.

i believe so.. stormtrooperchef will no doubt be along some time soon to confirm exact availability.. it's cooked to order, not buffet style, so i don't see why it wouldn't be every day..

seriously, i would urge anyone to check it out.. they have done the place out a treat, we had a lovely (no homo) morning just drinking tea & chatting, and as i say the breakfast was the very definition of value for money.. i'm a big sausage fan (hi basil :keke:) and the two massive ones i had this morning (yes, yes - enough) were the best i've had in ages.. 95% pork, le chef reckons, and i can well believe it..

ordinarily, yes.. that's what usually happens, but this breakfast was so humongous that i had to go home for a lie down lol..

normally i'd just stop eating when i was full, but the food really was so spectacular that every time i crossed my knife & fork, i ended up uncrossing & nibbling a bit more after a few minutes lol..

Sorry it's taken so long...

That is a 12" pizza plate...we mixed & matched with what we did/didn't want, they were extremely generous with their portions (to the extent that I ate roughly a third of what I was given....) and it was all tip top! There was also plenty of granary toast (out of pic).

And unlimited tea is a fudgin' winner.

Mrs King and I opted for the large carvery today. Mrs King needed a three hour nap to recover. The gammon and beef were outstanding and the beer selection was very good as usual. We couldn't fit in a dessert so opted for more alcohol and a selection of light reading from the bookshelves. I read a very informative book on social services that looked at ways of reducing the dependence on the welfare state. It is a shame that more politicians didn't read it in the late 70's when it was first published. Mrs King opted for Medicine for the Modern Woman. I believe she is looking for something inconspicuous to put in my tea.
