If you provide some more information you will get more responses, @santaslittlehelper. I don't know who you are referring to, for example, so perhaps others are the same.

Perhaps a link to a news story, or some background about the person that you wish to discuss. :)

Never heard of the man. Not surprising as I was only one when he was convicted.

Indeed - but, even at the time, Robert was the 'famous' one, largely due to the scale and duration of the manhunt that it took to catch him, I feel.
Yes, Ive read about it. I cant decide on this one - on one hand the bloke is 78 now & how much of a threat can he be to people - hes more likely to fade away after so long being institutionalised. But on the other hand his 'life' sentance was supposed to mean LIFE.

Maybe the question should be 'why arent all killers given propper life sentances, not just cop-killers'?

I've just Googled him. Regardless of whether or not it was a Policeman that was murdered, or an ordinary member of the public, surely the sentence should be the same? People get let out a lot earlier for the same crime these days.

Nice little relative tale .... My longest serving mate, now in Aus altho' we lived in Nottm at the time, got apprehended arriving on the train without a ticket while the hunt was on. He planted the railway bobby and legged it. He never was caught but we used to be chanting 'Harry Roberts - cops are coming to get you'.
He's still nicknamed Harry to this day!!

Enjoying a drop of red.
He killed three people. I believe that killing three people technically makes you a serial killer, where the people killed were Old Bill or not.

Life, should mean life in this case as it should with any other serial killers.

If not then they'll be releasing Peter Sutcliff next or Jeremy Bamber.
