Alternatively 10g alcohol/day for women & 20g alcohol/day for men, type of drink doesn't particularly matter. However the main information is about beer and the recommendation is 2pints/day for men & 1 for women.

    Lol

Your boys' wet dream of dismantling it and selling it off by the lb. is dying on its arse, and will end up being the very rainbow that comes after this storm.

The NHS is now safe for at least a generation, and there's nothing stooges like our current Cabinet can do about it. Look at the rictus grin of a c**t like Raab, clapping at that that he hates with every fibre of his excuse for a being on the steps of No.10 for photo-ops of a Thursday - it's the look of a man that knows at least part of the 'project' is finished.

People won't quickly forget how the BBC stepped up to help out with the schooling of the Nation's kids, either.

    Not so 'wet', what?

It's really not going well for the Project For a New UKican Century, is it?

Let's ask the driver of Conservative thought for the last six years what he thinks...

... we might as well just give up on the founding principles of it.

Give it up, that's not what people need now, and it is not what they will want 'going forward'.

It already is an insurance, it's just not a product, it's more an act of collective will.

The right hates 'collectivism', we get it.

Doesn't mean they're, erm, 'right', thou, does it?

"Cases of the novel coronavirus continue to rise in Sweden, which has a death rate of over 12 percent, the sixth highest in the world among countries with more than 1,000 confirmed cases, as of Thursday, according to the latest figures from Johns Hopkins University.

Sweden's death rate is more than twice as high as that of the U.S. (around 5.8 percent), the current epicenter of the outbreak which has the highest death toll in the world, and of China (around 5.5 percent), where the virus was first reported in the city of Wuhan."

    https://www.newsweek.com/sweden-coronavirus-rate-1501250

    Also

"The country has reported more than 21,000 confirmed cases, including nearly 2,500 fatalities. Its death rate is nearly six times as high as that of Norway (nearly 2.6 percent) and nearly triple that of its other Scandinavian neighbors Finland (nearly 4.2 percent) and Denmark (nearly 4.9 percent)."

The USA HAS shut down the economy. (I should know. ) And we have a death rate less than half that of Sweden.

I'm not sure the ballsed up response of the UK is a good benchmark.

The country that surprises me is Belgium - over double the number of deaths per 1m population of its neighbour The Netherlands, and well above Italy, Spain, France and the UK.

Of course, it's difficult to know what's being counted, but anyway ....

The whole statistical scenario of this situation is completely questionable. Talk about lies, utter lies and statistics. It's almost a joke, except it's not funny.

As I've said, best not get hung up on the figures themselves; it's the trends etc wots important.

Back in 2016 people got hung up on the accuracy of the figure on the side of a bus, and missed the overall point.

As mathematicians and physicists say: numbers don't lie. But the presenters of numbers … they lie like there's no tomorrow.

The stats published above may look shocking but let's keep them in prospective.
So take holmcroft as an example with 5 deaths that's 0.07%
    Stafford as a whole it's 31 deaths or 0.02%
Unfortunately it's fair to say that these figures may increase as we have passed the peak but transmission continues.

Belgium is apparently counting all suspected deaths from Covid, along with the definite ones.

Thanks. Maybe it's not so "difficult to know what's being counted" after all.

The Belgians seem to feel that higher "numbers" will aid them in provoking more responsible behaviour from their population.

Others may prefer to deflate their figures for some perceived PR gain.

The numbers themselves, like the number on the side of the bus, may well be true in themselves, the problems come when people (deliberately) distort their meaning.

Well done, Belgium. I assume they were behind Italy and maybe Spain, so could point to them and say "Look. We'll be having at least as bad a time as they are, and they're having it bad ..... so take these restrictions seriously." which isn't a bad strategy.

Today's figures suggest the curve is going in the right direction, at least as far as deaths in hospitals are concerned. Care Homes must still be a huge worry, though.

I live in holmcroft, and judging by the increase in local activity over the last few days I can see another wave coming.

EDIT: I saw this through my window today

I’d suggest putting more tonic in the gin next time.
