nice day doing nothing so I thought i'd pop upto the show.
I checked prices online first, as they are charging £16 for a carer of wheelchair user, who doesn't really want to be there, we changed our plans.
I rang to double check the prices, £14 for wheelchair/£16 for carer. I was only going so I could get to use my camera. I asked why they charge for the carer 'its our policy, its in line with all the other shows'. well I know that's not true as the bike show they have there, the carer goes free.
town park and the Isabel trail will be my day out instead.

In fairness to them, they mean all the other county shows. Most county shows across the country are on a circuit so all pricing decisions are taken by the central organisers who also get all the profits. They simply pay a percentage for the use of the various county show grounds and their facilities. That's why pricing is different for other shows at our county show ground.

Of course, that's of no help to you and no less unfair.

Somebody said almost exactly those words to me last night - except for the camera bit.

I've been to two county shows (in Staffordshire) - one was free - I might pay £16 to get out of going to another....

Any guesses who's involved with raking in the cash? Address all complaints to Stafford Showground Ltd

I completely disagree with your opinion on this, you said yourself that you're not too fussed about going so why be upset when you can't cash in on another persons disability.

I usually go every year though swerved it this year due to a potty training toddler. My daughter wanted to go but I'm not too bothered so why can't I cash in on that?

If everyone else has to pay full price why should you get a freebie?

Just back from there and we had a great time. Lots to see and do and the Stunt bikers were excellent. As was the Scalextric...

If it's anything like the Newport show then you really haven't missed out. Complete load of bollocks that was when we went.

where did I say I was upset? and I am not cashing in on anyone's disability so don't judge before you know facts
I really wasn't fussed about going, just looking to fill the day doing something.
not everyone pays full price, your potty training toddler would be free, your daughter would be a reduced cost too.

If you don't pay to get in then everyone else has to pay more to make up the deficit.

sure, if you say so
and who makes the defecit up on non goers

possibly record crowds this year, so will it be cheaper next year, or will they reimburse you due to making more than expected

It is unusual for it not to be lashing down - the traffic was a bit chaotic this morning...
yes, and the schools are on holiday. have they changed dates over the years for that to happen? it makes sense.
I remember being in school when it was on 40 odd years ago.

This half-term moves around with Easter dates, I suppose - the show seems to have always been around the last week in May, I think - not that I've taken much notice.

this is whitsun now? - last sunday of may
Whitsun is (usually) a bit of a misnomer for the Bank Holiday - this Monday was the Spring Bank Holiday - Whitsun is related to the timing of Easter and it is just a fluke of the Moon cycle that Whit Monday was the same day this year.
