I imagine that fattwat or an ancestor up in the big house at Swynnerton has done this more than once,

The important thing about granting the right of infangentheof to incorporated Boroughs like Stafford, was actually wrestling that kind of control out of the hands of 'some feudal lords'.

It now meant that thieves caught 'red-handed' could be tried by a town council, and penalties up to, and including death, could be imposed by them. What it really meant was the 'feudal lords' could f**k off - this is our town now.

Borough Charters were literally the first wrestlings of power from the Crown, usually paid for by eager Burghers to Monarchs on the ropes who were desperate for money - they would have a huge impact on the 'feudal lords' who collaterally lost control of dynamic, money-making centres, just at the time that money became more important than land.

The bourgeoisie have subsequently had their ups and downs, but have now been thoroughly accommodated somewhere in Rishi Sunak's generous housing complex.
