Have you seen the new cycle path going North from Beaconside for about 30 yards up Marston Lane? Is there a point to that? Am I missing something?..
I wondered this too. The road had traffic lights on it for a few weeks, and the only difference I've noticed is a bit of new tarmac and the 30yd cycle track! One thought was that you could use the lanes through Marston and Enson to get you nearly to Stone without using the A34. It would hardly seem worth installing a cycle track there though! I don't know what those lanes are like either.

The other thought was that they are going to run a cycle track along Beaconside and did that bit while there were roadworks anyway? There is a short cycle track on the other side of the A34 by the Shire Horse that seemingly leads to nowhere - maybe linked?

Would you be interested in joining gk and i for a ride on the chase sometime?
I would. Go up most Sun pm's when I'm around. Leave motor at Chet @ Brocton and return for a beer or two before tea.
Also go further afield when we can. Anyone been to the West Pennine Moors, up near Chorley? Loads of bikes up there last Sat.

Excellent :D We might have to get some lycra based forum clobber made up :P

This guy seems to do a lot of good with his cycling abilities, something I'd also be interested in. I know theres a ride coming up for Katherine House Hospice, which looks a good start :D Does anyone else do charitable cycling?

Haha I took mine out for a blast in the snow earlier, remarkably confident on road in 2" of snow :D The Kenda tyres are really really good for this weather. I'm hoping they're this good on mud! Will post some more photos of unused bike tomorrow

Is that a Moomin?
If you're intending to cycle crazily down the sides of the scary hills at the chase, I will quite happily cycle there with you, and watch you smash yourself to tiny pieces and then apply sticky plasters where neccessary. I'm too scared to do actual off road biking although I'm probly going to steal my father in laws Marin.

Found out about this bloke today:

http://www.ezerider.com/

Doesn't actually appear to cover Stafford though maybe he would do especially if there were a few promises of business.

£99 for a "Diamond Service" with full disassemble and rebuild seems great value.

I'm very tempted to test him out since I haven't touched the bike all winter.
