Do people really choose the "left-hand - front / right-hand - rear" arrangement? I had to ride a bike with that set-up once - very difficult, nearly broke my neck. I don't see any advantage in the non-standard layout.
It was a Czech bike, perhaps it's a continental thing?

Yes, I can confirm: that's the standard setting in France (that's where I learnt to ride a bike), and on the continent in general.

Anyone fancy rising to the Cannock Chase Challege SkyRide this year?
I'm having another go on 21 Sept and will be very depressed if I am no better than last year.
Itis free, guided by the lovely SkyRide leaders and all on road. A refreshment stop along the way and usually friendly, non-competitive riders. But hilly. Hellishly hilly. Ear-poppingly hilly.

As much as i, like one would hope the 'next man', would like to think that 'September' is a typo/'senior moment' for 'August', one has one's suspicions that you do actually mean 'September'.
If so then that means you have currently averaged 155km per day.
It furthermore would suggest that, at current rate, you will have chalked up 4650km by the end of the month.
A
search for 4650km tells me that that would be the equivalent of travelling from Campoformido, Italy to Massawa, Eritrea.This would be, on the one hand, quite something, and on the other, a test of whether the 'Remove Formatting' thing works.
