Flood warning has been issued for the River Sow
I wonder if Spoons will flood out again?
Will be a good test for the new measure that have put in place.
People up the road from us flooded to just below the electrical sockets, there next door neighbour has a flooded kitchen and conservatory.
It says that the Guildhall Shopping Centre and Indoor Market are closed ufn - but probably until later today because of minor flooding.
The market is closed until tomorrow.
Odd purchase. Who would build here?
Wouldn’t be the first weird listing. Some joker thought you could fit an entire house in a little patch of land at the bottom of Kingston Hill a while back, just on the corner and presumably creeping into the Morris Man overflow
Not just a weird listing, its been bought. Would a lender allow a mortgage on houses built on that land?
Probably for houseboat moorings.
It's not the only random bit of land currently up for sale - https://www.rightmove.co.uk/commercial-property-for-sale/property-86123233.html
If they can sort out access which will require the demolition of a neighbouring property that could open up the whole area for residential development - CAVEAT - no idea if that area floods.
As the is the freehold on the land, all the houses already built must be leaseholds so the yearly ground rent will provide a decent income
I'm pretty [sure] I've seen it flood, or at least get very boggy indeed
I'm ugly but I'm pretty sure I've seen it flood too
Strange that, we looked at one of the 3 storey house there over 12 years ago and I don't recall it being leasehold (it's the sort of thing we would have noticed...)
Looks as though it was an access track to a building at the back of the other properties. Think the freehold only relates to this piece of land, not the adjoining properties.
There’s been a lot of activity at the site recently clearing vegetation. I asked one of the workmen what was planned and he told me it would be either “The Lost World of Atlantis” theme park or - if funding wasn’t forthcoming - a paddy field.
