Gonna be a lot of locals out of work, no word from the union yet. Wonder if they'll offer a big enough bribe to get people to volunteer, or if it'll be minimum necessary and bugger off?

Our place offered us an extra grand if we volunteered, as it looks better on the company.

More jobs leaving Staffordshire :(

And more arriving.

If the move goes ahead Argos' operations will continue to be provided by DHL, but move to sites at Marsh Leys and Faverdale. Operations for home store Habitat will transfer to Acton Gate from Kettering and Marsh Leys.

The spokesperson added: : "Following the sale of Homebase to Westfarmers Ltd and the reduction in volumes this entails, DHL has announced proposals to repurpose its Distribution Centre at Acton Gate. Affected staff have been informed of the situation.

So, is it a net loss, a net gain or no change.

If the warehouse changes hands who is to say they'd want current staff?
Sainsbury own habitat and argos. The acton gate warehouse is getting turned into a dhl run habitat warehouse, they will ask for volunteers for redundancy and managers will be asked to reapply for their jobs.

If either of you have evidence to back up your statements it'd help? Always more useful than opinion.

I know a lot of workers at Acton gate, the Argos side of it will be finished they are turning it into a habitat national distribution centre, which mean a massive drop in volume. It currently runs 6-1400, 14-22, 22-06. They have already told workers a nightshift will not be required.
I can only assume it will be voluntary redundancy and a point system if they don't get the required amount of staff. I've experienced a workplace where redundancy have happened and that's how unite do things.

Any redundancy packages offered? I also know a few up there and they ain't volunteering unless it's worth their while.

Sorry should've been more specific. The fact you stated it would be a Dhl run habitat warehouse is wrong will be a different company altogether. Bear in mind it's a propsal at the mo and in the consultation stage. That being said it will more than likely happen and I foresee it being a scaled down workforce(that's my opinion). No redundancy packages offered yet too early for that
