Basically people will tell you their instructor is great if they passed first time. If they didn't then they will either keep quiet or say theirs was crap.
As my instructor passed many years ago I think, I have no axe to grind.
From my considerable observation of watching driving instructors whilst driving on their own or supervising a student, I can say that their standards seem to be universally shit. I'd avoid any of the Stafford based idiots if I were you.
Hi there, I was wondering if any of you had (or knows anybody who had) any experience with an instructor called Nigel Mantle, he was mentioned on facebook, but I need more information about him, if he's any good, his contact number if possible. My problem is that I've had a few failures in the test, even though when I'm driving (outside the test) i rarely make even minor mistakes. I was wondering if it's right to tell my next instructor that I have failed before or not I will also need to tell the new instructor that I dont need (lessons), just a bit of run arounds. I only need a fresh start with a different instructor that will hopefully help me pass. Thanks in advance.

I understand that Mark Birch isn't taking on any more new clients as he is going to run a B & B somewhere with his wife.My son passed first time with Mark Birch and most of his mates have as well. He isn't the cheapest per lesson, but teaches you to drive and not just do enough to pass your test. He was quite strict with son, which was good as it worked! (And with Mark teaching him an excellent method of parrallel parking, son can get into the smallest of spaces which I wouldn't entertain trying to parallel park in myself . He offered to teach me his method, but don't fancy pranging my car . I'll carry on parking miles away in a bigger spot )
Perhaps you need hypnosis or to try that rapid eye thingy wotsit majigg, if it's nerves?
