Definitely, 3 or 4 times a year
Sometimes the unnecessary is necessary.....
What a great idea particularly as people aren't going out as much now and those that do aren't necessarily carrying spare change to donate to the homeless these days.
Its just a shame it's the government that pays the difference and not Wetherspoons.
Agree, spoons profit from this which is a shame. The mcdonald's idea sounds better as its also pre packaged.
And I wasn't suggesting otherwise, but a street corner local run by a couple with no employees years ago or a one-man-band micropub closed every Monday nowadays could or can be very efficient.
Went to Dog and Doublet last night. Set up is very good. Tables spread out, staff were wearing masks, one way system for entrance/exit. Food was very good as always and staff were brilliant
Finally ventured to Ayo Gorkhali last night to take advantage of the governments crack at meerkat meals, thoroughly enjoyed and came out rather full. Less than £40 for 2 people with drinks too
Finally made the most of the scheme and went out to a local pub last night!
Meal came on a gigantic plate, half of it stacked with chips.
I took one look and thought 'I'm never going to eat all of that!!'
I did. And had a desert. Didn't even share it.
Sorry - I'm in Warrington!
But if you ever fancy visiting this shithole I very much recommend the Parr Arms: http://theparrarms.co.uk/
A career in tourism promotion beckons.
A work colleague, when I was based in Crewe, used to live in Warrington and kept trying to tempt us to a night out in said "shithole". We went a few times and then reverted to my suggestions of Nantwich or Manchester.
I can confirm Warrington town centre is officially the shittest of all shitholes in the world for a shit night out.
I don't recall the Parr Arms so is it new or out of the town centre somewhere?
I see it has improved somewhat since I knew it in the 1970s & 80s
I have been to La Casa this evening. Not sure why it wasn't on the list of places to visit often, as the food was great.
Parr Arms is outside the town centre towards Stockton Heath. Its nice but not worth a visit to Warrington for!
The town centre may look a little jazzier but can confirm the rest is just plain shit.
Just returned from Tap Steakhouse where the three of us had a great meal. I'm just off into Carb Coma (knew it was a big mistake to have a pudding...)
I've just called into Thawa Bridge for an impromptu takeaway and Abdul advised me that he is doing the Eat Out to Help Out half price food on Wednesdays in September and October.
Sounds good to me
At least the food’s cheap eh?
That's great news. I love Thawa Bridge and Abdul. A genuinely really nice guy.
And before I get asked I have no personal interest in Thawa Bridge other than I love their food and through my regular visits have now become a friend of Abduls. I am not Abduls secret love child. Honest!
With the added benefit that he supports a decent football team.
I'm afraid we will have to agree to disagree on that one. I keep trying to convince him to change his allegencies from Liverpool fc to the mighty Stafford Rangers fc.
