I seem to remember seeing an ad for a company locally who take pictures from a hydraulic column thingy

I am not after a helicopter or a tall man with long arms but something in between

yup they're based in the business innovation centre on staffordshire tech park - i used to work in the same building as them

don't know what they're called and their web presence appears to be none existent

I believe that Foto Vista operate from Stafford ( Talbot Road, possibly ) although their mast is a little shorter - at 15 metres.

Why is a man with a camera on a pole up in the early hours ?? Well that would be telling =) If you live above 7 storeys high you need not worry !!!!

I shot the Leisure centre last year on behalf of the company that made the steel roofing, once I had their shots in the bag I hung around for some nice PR type shots, quite pleased with the result. I do a fair bit of work in the Stafford and Stoke area mainly new build, the Wedgewood museum was another example.

Thanks for the welcome, I will try and make more use of the forum.
